Trump's main goal is to redirect his supporters from any media except the platforms that roll around and play ball with him aka Fox, OAN and Breitbart. No matter how many lies he spews, he wants them to trust him and not WaPo, NYT, WSJ or other credible outlets. It's from the same playbook as fascist or authoritarian leaders.

Thankfully, the majority of the country is smart, not gullible. He's said it's amazing that his supporters will stick by him at all costs. No one should have that much power over another.

This post reminds me of an old Paul Newman quote: If you're playing a poker game and you look around the table and and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you.

...and THAT is THE reason that the GOP and Trump are on a misinformation campaign that tries to convince you that having an education is a bad thing. When Trump says he loves the uneducated, you can believe it.

What does Obama have to do with this?

If you know Trump's cray lies are not true, why repeat them, why insist they are true, or claim it makes no difference because others have lied as well?

Completely false. We think for ourselves - not accept what we are told by your media masters. The MSM is blatantly biased against anyone (not just Trump) that doesn't support their Orwellian fall-in-line narrative.

So, the Dems on here are reduced to this as a strategy...

"Liar, liar, pants on fire"

After 3+ years of misinformation and failed coup attempts, this is all you got?

Here's a rhetorical question for ALL SIDES: Anymore, how do we know what's truth, and what's a lie. I know what I believe, but fact is both sides are claiming the other is lying. I get it, if I'm a gullible Trumper, then I see something like this, and think it's propaganda. Those that are far gone on the hard left get their misinformation too. How do we get through to the fringe on all sides?
How is this not true, and the author's conclusion, not false?

portraying Trump as a heroic reformer cracking down on foreign corruption while Democrats plotted a coup. That this narrative bore little resemblance to reality

Trump has done what no previous president had the balls to do, and yet they campaign and promised to do, to move the US Embassy in Israel? Did Trump push for and sign criminal justice reform bill? Has Trump been reforming of federal regulations? Etc.... Yes, Trump is a reformer.

Have Democrats been trying remove him from office since he defeated Hilary? Yes. So yes, the opening conclusion the author in the article you linked is false. It's you folks who live in an alternate version from reality, so of course the truth appears as lies to you.

"Think for myself" is an excuse people tell themselves in order to justify ignoring well-established fact-based reporting that employ journalistic standards in favor of fact-free sources that fits one's agenda. The people who tell me they "think for themselves" aren't pulling source documents and reading them, they are just ignoring inconvenient facts by declaring them to be fake.

This is one of the core points laid out in the cited article.

Most of his supporters are attached to Trump worshipping outlets. It's telling because most of his supporters don't have Twitter but they can repeat his talking points, conspiracy theories and lies thanks to Hannity, Tucker and Limbaugh.

No other president has ever went out on social media to post in rapid succession links to radical talking head at any media outlet or invited them to speak at their rallies. So the narrative that "they" all do it, doesn't hold water compared to the Trump circle.
