He is very upset that they have educated a couple generations of engineers and scientists and are working so hard at technology.

Apparently the folks in Government are a couple decades behind and don't realize that horse left the Barn long long ago. The "Trump Trade Wars" have put the pedal to the metal since China realized it cannot count on the USA for chip fabrication, etc. and so are now building out their own plants. They also realized they can't even count on Android so are doing the same there

Maybe if we didn't spend our time belittling science and the educated to make ourselves feel good about manufacturing jobs that are never coming back, China wouldn't be stealing our lunch money.

He didn't say that.

He said the USA needs to take ownership of the technology instead of relying on China.

Can you post a reliable source for this? Doesn't sound like something Barr would say. This sounds more like Schumer and Pelosi alarmist rhetoric - something they like to do.

I haven't listened to it, but I assume this is relevant.

U.S., allies should consider Nokia, Ericsson investments to counter Huawei: Barr

U.S. Attorney General William Barr on Thursday stressed the threat posed by Huawei Technologies and said the United States and its allies should consider investing in Finland’s Nokia and Sweden’s Ericsson to counter the Chinese company’s dominance in next generation 5G telecoms technology.

...
“Putting our large market and financial muscle behind one or both of these firms would make it a far more formidable competitor and eliminate concerns over its staying power, or their staying power,” Barr said in a speech to a Washington think tank conference on China.

“We and our closest allies certainly need to be actively considering this approach,” Barr said.

The United States alleges that the Chinese government could use Huawei’s equipment for espionage, which Huawei denies.

The US needs to get away from suppressing new technology/ inventions that in their belief, threaten current industries or the ability of Govt to exert its authority, this is a major problem right now, if we do not overcome this, we will not progress much further than where we are are now!

They may allow the public to have 5G, but do you honestly think they would permit the general public to have access to 8 or 9G technology?!! NO WAY IN HELL!!
