Key and Peele or somebody else could do a great comedy sketch on the concept of "black people" being a monolithic group as implied by various people across the political spectrum.
They could pull out ID cards with their "black number" and have fun making fun of the whole idea.
I think the issue is more and more people are registered as independent. The right has pulled more and more right since the 1960's. Few elected on the right are moderates. Nixon and Bush Jr. largely were moderates, but they still had conservative policies. Democrats are now waking up to be more Democratic Socialists, especially younger ones who are following Bernie's lead. This is because a lot are tired with fake progressives like Obama. The same Republicans are with the likes of Nixon, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.
As for why blacks changed to being Democrats, I think a lot has to be said with the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act and the Great Society Programs while Republicans largely became the Southern Democrats of the 1940's-60's. That being wanting to rollback rights. While Trump economically has done a lot for black Americans, he still doesn't policy wise do enough for them. He seemingly throws a bone to them every once in a while.
Democrats don't do much better, but they often are more covert in their racism than the red brethren.
The best part of being independent is that in a number of states like Arizona in statewide elections, you can pick a side to vote on for primaries. Federally you cannot. I didn't want to give up my independent classification otherwise I would have voted in the Presidential preference election this Tuesday. Baring CoronaVIrus of course...
Blacks are a minority. If they were to do this there vote would become irrelevant. Also, the democrats would probably lose every election and the republicans would probably win every election. Is that what you want?
Actually, this is what I want. I want some of the White conservatives who are so obsessed about who Blacks vote for to basically quit obsessing. Said persons act like Blacks voting Democrat is killing them. I would like for both parties show Black Americans alot more respect. No, I don't want the GOP winning every election. I just want alot more respect.
So I've got your attention with the title of the thread. Good. This is something to think about. This was the party we gravitated to towards the past, until the 1960s. Perhaps we could fix what was broken in this party which resulted in the massive flee.
This could also apply to registering for other mainstream parties.
If we got more of us flooding OTHER parties we could be of more influence at some point. I think the focus should be about way more than simply "having a seat at the table." I'd like to see more of us running for political positions in both parties. Specifically more CENTER left and CENTER right. I don't think that either extreme side is a good thing. The far left and far right are actually pretty similar if you think about it. They both play the race card, they both use identify politics, they both lack empathy for those who disagree at all with them. Both extremes lack any compassion for those who they deem not to be up to their standards.
Changing the climate of both of the mainstream parties would actually be of a great advantage to us in the sense that we could see that we are not at the bottom of the list. The influence could start at the local government and work it's way up to the federal level.
I'm not telling anyone to just go run and register with any particular party, however this is something to think about and would make for an interesting dialogue.
What do you think? Should we be focused on changing the climate of each party and ideology or focus on forming separate political parties that mimic the current ones? Should we just put all of our energy into a third party or register as Independents? Also, why do you think that moderation/centrism seems to be virtually non-existent today?
In the event that the action suggested above is taken, what issues do you think should be priority?

Respect is NOT earned by supporting those who do not support your interests . At this point BLACKS ARE the Democratic party.
More and more blacks are joining the #WalkAway campaign and have made some very emotional videos explaining why.
Lots of black conservatives have their own youtube news channels. Many were invited to the White House for a big social media event a few months back. You can find it on the White House youtube channel.
Backchannels are important when the 'news' itself is untrustworthy.

The Republicans don't have the best interests of Blacks either, in fact, they are less likely to do so. Who do Blacks turn to in the political arena? That is why I suggested giving the middle finger to both parties in one post. And then another poster said that the Republicans would just end up winning every election.

I don't trust the #Walkaway campaign and many of these black conservatives are simply echoing what white racist (NOT ALL) want to hear. That way they can say "See? a black person said it! We have black people too!"
Now I DO follow some black Libertarian news sites. Regarding black youtubers who support Trump. I'm subscribed to Oshay Duke Jackson (his Sunday rumbles are interesting) and Mumia Obsidian Ali.
"Moderate black social scientist" are you related to "Conservative Black Scholar" by any chance?
