Well, back then, I couldn't vote, and will admit I was a sucker for Bill Clinton's moment of playing on the Sax, but today, I would have to go for Ross Perot. Both Bush and Clinton were for NAFTA, which was the death sentence for the USA.
Clinton was a sleaze bag, but I thought he did a decent job of working with Congress to get things accomplished. All Bush ever did was veto, veto, veto.
I voted Clinton in 92 and have sat out [being the Silent Majority], until Ron Paul's 2006 grassroots Taxed Enough Already.
Then Daddy Trump stepped up to the plate and took a swing.
I voted for Perot in 1992, but would not have done so in retrospect. I was much more idealistic back then and a vote for Perot was a vote against the corrupt political machine. The very first time I heard Clinton speak -before I knew anything about him - I remember thinking he was a smooth talking snake oil salesman. I could almost see the slime oozing from him. Clinton started out rough - forgetting that he still represented the half of voters who didn't vote for him. He eventually figured it out (something many Presidents never do) and turned out to be a decent President. He was far from perfect - he helped lay the foundation for the mortgage crisis in the mid-2000s and was a misogynistic pig, but wasn't the dumpster fire of our subsequent Democratic President.
I voted for Clinton but looking back in retrospect HW would have also made a good president, I just didn't like his pandering with no new taxes but he was an honorable man.
Clinton turned out to be one of the best presidents we had, he worked with congress and was good at compromising to get results. A democratic president and a republican congress worked well during his administration, not so much in the past decade.
