Minority Whip and then Speaker of the House throughout the 1990s. Perhaps the founder of “tea party conservatism” and author of the “Contract With America”. Promoted by Rush Limbaugh.

Bad guy, especially considering he divorced one of his wives while she was in the hospital

Kind of a milquetoast compared to say, Bannon.

NAFTA was crafted during the Reagan admin.

Bush 1 did the ceremonial signing , subject to Congress approval, while POTUS.

Newt was the power behind getting it through Congress.

IIRC, it took some time to negotiate NAFTA.

If the 3 countries signed off on it in December of 1992 and Clinton was inaugurated January 20, 1993, he must have been some kind of a magician.

There is a thread today about Ross Perot. Ross ran against NAFTA and his opponents were Bush and Clinton. Please tell me how NAFTA could have been Clinton's mess.

Generally a good guy with typical human deficiencies.

He has the best working knowledge of politics around.

Newt Gingrich is for the Mexican Border Wall and keeping out illegal aliens.

Therefore, he is a good guy whatever his flaws might be.

Gingrich has nothing in common with Trump but he's all in with him particularly since his present concubine is ambassador to the Vatican, my how their standards have dropped.
Strange how people like ex governor of New Hampshire John Sununu is now a big Trump supporter.

Gingrich has become a much nastier human being over the last decade and changed his values, maybe he can talk Trump into another Contract with America, you know like a balanced budget he claimed during his campaign.

I voted Bad Guy because to a large extent the current hyperpartisan divisiveness in our politics can be traced back to Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh. That is when our politics seemed to become so personal. It got worse under Bush and Obama, and has reached its apex under Trump.

IMHO, Newt is the individual most responsible for the political discord we have in this country today. He was a party before country politician decades ago.
