I like to listen to lots of creepy stories that have happened to people on youtube, it can be very interesting, but one common thing I have noticed is how a lot of girls/women talk about how either an ex boyfriend or just some random guy that is crazy and stalks them will send them threatening messages about killing/beating/raping them and even when they contact the police they don't give a crap saying "Well, unless he actually physically assaulted you, we don't give a damn!".

Isn't that crazy? To me, I think if a woman goes to the police showing off texts about how a guy is going to brutally harm someone they should be immediately arrested and spend the next 5 or so years in prison at least.

Another reason people should arm themselves. You’re responsible for protecting yourself, nobody else.

If it happens once at lets say a drunken binge, with no intent to actually carry anything out, then no.

If it happens repeatedly then sure since that's stalking/harassment essentially then and we already have laws against that.

In many places it is a criminal offense called "terroristic threatening". The key point there is that terror is not just the act of physical harm, but also the threat of it.

I think at the very least the person sending threatening texts should be investigated. It's a gutless act, cowardly to the core.

So then why don't cops charge them with it? It's clear as far as they are concerned a man telling a woman he's going to harm her doesn't matter to them at all; guess most police don't care if a man harms a woman or rapes her.
