The Algiers Accords were negotiated by the Carter admin (Warren Christopher) and the hostages were freed as a result of that accord. Those are the facts, and apparently it is news to many here who think Reagan got them released.
Really??? then why did it take so long to have them freed? Again...Carter was a pushover with no balls.

I.The economy was in the dumpster when Carter won.
Totally untrue. 1978 was a record year for new car sales. The so-called "Arab Oil Embargo" ended in March, 1974. Interest rates were low when Carter took office, but ballooned by 1980.

DH was very involved in the 2nd Carter campaign in our county because he couldn't stand Teddy Kennedy. SO yes, I was around as a full grown woman and mother of 3 kids.
I just have a different outlook and concept of what government should and should not do. That does not make me wrong and you right. Just different.
I also may have a different opinion of protesting Iranians. They protested at the consulate in Houston when we lived there. My kid had to go to a location almost next door, weekly for many months. It was a trip we all dreaded due to protesting students. Took forever because the students were permitted to block traffic close to downtown. The students also knocked one of the Carter sons down the stairs at the university of Houston.
IMO, they should have all had their visas revoked. But the schools wanted their money so they could do what they pleased.
While I can agree Carter mishandled some of the situation, so did many others. Why did our beloved CIA put the Shah in power while many Americans cheered?
The now whitewashed Iran Contra crime will forever color my opinion of Reagan, and Wm. Barr.
Just like other POTUS, Carter knew only what the CIA wanted him to know.
