Forward? Means absolutely nothing, it has no context. Forward toward what? It's just a vague, hollow slogan.
In contrast, Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign slogan has context, it implies something (e.g. that America has lost its greatness) and it is a call to action to make America better. It's concise and effectively demonstrates what Trump's platform is going to be about. Mentioning 'America' in the slogan will galvanize a sense of patriotism. Having the verb 'make' in the slogan inspires action. Effective political slogans should always contain a verb that inspires action, to energize potential voters.
Hillary's campaign slogan for 2016 ("Stronger Together") was a complete dud. It's vague, doesn't inspire any action, and doesn't really invoke much of anything.
Effective political slogans should at the very least form a complete sentence. There has to be some kind of context and some kind of call for action.
And republicans want to go backward. Personally, I'd rather go forward than backward any day.
Even if going forward means going over a cliff? Because that's what that "new way forward act" will do. It's hard to believe that an American would actually write such a thing, let alone get at least 43 cosponsors in the House.

“The New Way Forward Act is arguably the most radical piece of immigration legislation in American history. The act shields criminal illegal aliens from deportation, decriminalizes illegal entry, and creates a pathway for deported illegal aliens to return back to the U.S.,” said Matthew Tragesser, spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).
“It’s clear that House Democrats care more about illegal aliens than law-abiding Americans and view criminals as victims,” Tragesser added.
If one is going forward, since one's eyes are in the front of their head, at least they can see the cliff coming.
On the other hand, when one is walking backwards, it is more difficult to see what is behind you so you stand a better chance of not seeing any cliffs you are about to fall over.
