Australia had an unbelievably high standard of living for most citizens when I lived there a decade ago. Aussies always seem to be on vacation too. Cheap college, and healthcare and good infrastructure as well. Australians seem happier than Americans on average too.
Tax for a single person making 150k USD is about 5% higher than many US states. With that you get lots more bang for your buck than here.
So yeah be like them.

As usual, there is yet another batch of threads going on with people on the right accusing democrats of being socialist, and socialism always fails because look at Venezuela and the Soviet Union, and yadda yadda yadda.
The utterly absurd part of this claim is that nobody (or least almost nobody) wants the US to emulate those places. When you try to tell these righties that, it goes completely over their heads, and even if you tell them you're wanting to emulate, say, Canada or Denmark or Germany or even just Australia, it once again goes right over their heads and the next day they will come back and tell you that you're going to turn the US into Venezuela. Even though you just told them otherwise.
Now, you may not like Canada or Denmark or Germany, but you also can't say they're Venezuela or the Soviet Union. It seems to me the righties don't like being told by a leftie that the goal of the left is to turn the US into something more like Canada or Sweden, because Canada and Sweden are rather nice places, and it's hard to argue with somebody who wants to turn the US into a nice place. So they ignore you and keep repeating, "Venezuela! Venezuela!"
So to set the record straight I'm doing this poll and thread to show everybody exactly what the lefties on this board would like to see the US emulate. Granted, I don't think anybody thinks we could turn the US into carbon copies of these places, but use them more as general guidelines for what you have in mind.
