The answer really is quite simple; in the interests of that often floated idea that Americans have the right to defend themselves (against each other being the imperative) and that idea assuming priority import as it applies to the 2nd amendment in the American thinking; just level the playing field by requiring everyone to be armed including the seven year old in pre-school.
After all; if gun restrictions do not accomplish anything at all (according to idiots on here) just arm everyone who can pick one up. Shouldn't be too big a deal to sweep up the shell casings and mop up the blood after a typical day of high school hyjinks.
Road rage, a thing of the past. Spousal arguments, should be over long before the expensive ammo runs out.
Under age - that's a restriction. Untrained - where does the 2nd mention training? Convicted felon - again why would any later law have force and effect over that vaunted number 2?
Framers say anything at all about conditions for being armed other than that mamby-pamby wussy reference to the "well regulated militia" which we all know was not what they mean't.
Arm everyone and the rest of us will watch from as far away as we can, the resultant carnage that results from your actually observing the "no restriction" mandate.
Should be really entertaining and make for some "authentic" reality TV.
Gun restrictions certainly keeps the murder rate way lower than it is in the US though!! Perhaps you can answer my question now that the other fella has run off - there are around 70 people shot to death in the UK every year - do you think that is too many?

However, there are several states that also will not issue a permit to carry, which is unconstitutional, but has not yet been addressed by the courts.
I think there is a difference between how lethal a knife is compared to certain types of guns which can kill multiple people in seconds.
A lot of the current terrorist attacks have been terrorist resorting to other means precisely because they can't obtain high powered guns.
The Paris shooting was a failure by the intelligence and security services, although there is no 100% way of stopping every single attack.
It's also worth notng that most gun massacres are not terorist attacks, they are usually some individual who is either just plain evil or has underlying problems or both, and ownership of semi-automatic centre-fire rifles was banned in the UK due to the Hungerford massacre in the 1980's, whilst handguns were banned after the Dunblane massacre in the 1990's, neither of which were terrorist attacks.
So how many shootings are there in Germany compared to the US? I'd say the restrictions are working.
That's why the title of this thread is so ridiculous, one shooting and gun laws don't work. Beyond the proliferation of guns where we have a gun for each individual our laws are very loose, you wont find a German mother with a toddler shopping in a Walmart with a gun in the cart or taking their mentally ill son to a shooting range. The entire gun culture and the disregard with which they treat guns is absurd.
