The victim has the basis of a huge lawsuit. First, putting men in, unsupervised, with women in a prison environment is obviously a stupid practice enabling rape and sexual assault. 2nd, the government employees at the prison tried to cover their obviously failed, foolish policies. And finally, they turned the tables against the victims. Every one of those employees should be sued into poverty, and held criminally liable. Sadly, they will go on with their lives, and the taxpayers will suffer.

If you let them go to female prisons, they’ll eventually be full of men raping the **** out of women. This nonsense where we need to treat men like women just because they say so is insane.

Honestly not sure I believe the allegations of rape.

I think that people are pushing this to keep trans issues in the media from a negative perspective.

There is a lot of transphobia in the USA and I can see it occurring in the prison system from manipulative women in a female prison. Sorry but it's true and there is not any history in this persons past regarding sexual assault. I honestly feel like the female inmates may have taken advantage of an inmate with a penis. Women like having sex too BTW and women locked up and away from men other than guards (and there have been many instances of inmates having sexual relationships with guards at women's prisons) IMO would make them come after this particular inmate in the same way that the men at the male prison came after the trans inmate - for sexual desires.

Hers seems like a sad story. I'd have to review the claims of the woman who made the rape allegations to come to an opinion on the matter. I just know way too many people who have negative views of trans people to believe this since the transwoman would be at risk of going back to the male prison if she actually did something like this and she knows it.

I'll also note the charges in the 2nd link make me wonder about the home life and background of this transwoman. Seems she had a horrible family and upbringing and makes me wonder if her family kicked her out and ostracized her to make her life go such a tragic way. She was only 15 in 2005 when she was imprisoned. The link also says she choked another inmate in 2006 but doesn't provide any info on that. I'd think she choked a man who perhaps was making moves on her. I worked at an organization when I was younger that served primarily black trans and gay/lesbian teens and young adults and they were often targeted by other black people in an abusive way. The criminal background IMO is indicative of this sort of abuse being done to a black teen trans young person.

And if prisons were better run, this would not be an issue, imo.
You can thank the federal courts for screwing up every prison system that used to be well run -- like Texas's.

Not sure? Hmm, maybe they should keep biological males out of female prisons?

So he’s more important than the people he RAPED? It seems like he can go to the male prison and kept in his own cell. It’s what they’ve done for years dude.

Fair enough. Men should not be imprisoned with women, but that doesn't mean this person did what is accused of.

Monroe, 30, has been locked up since 2005, when she was charged with shooting two people outside a barbershop. After being transferred from a juvenile facility in 2006, she strangled her cellmate in the Cook County jail. Department of Corrections records show she’s serving time for 11 felonies, including second degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated battery, aggravated battery involving a government employee, three counts of aggravated battery involving a peace officer, two counts of aggravated attempted arson, damage to government property and bringing contraband into a penal institution. She is due for parole in 2051.
