Liberalism is the greatest threat America has sustained since its inception. Unlike other threats, liberalism seeks to destroy individual liberties from the inside. Others who have lived through totalitarian regimes think that liberals are simply insane to pine for such systems and openly express their disbelief that Americans would be that foolish. However, there are always idiots who want to experience misery first hand, thus the rise in interest in socialism in America.

Why do todays "liberals" even call themselves liberals at all?

"Classical liberalism" designate the ideology advocating private property, an unhampered market economy, civil liberties with an emphasis on economic freedom. Classical liberals believed that it is in the common interest that all individuals be able to secure their own economic self-interest. They were critical of what would come to be the idea of the welfare state as interfering in a free market.

Neoliberalism is distinct from classical liberalism as it does not advocate laissez-faire economic policy but instead is highly constructivist and advocates a strong state to bring about market-like reforms in every aspect of society.

Today, there is no hint of liberalism, in fact they are the opposite.

Quit being dramatic - as stated throughout this thread - there are people on both sides that take things too far. It's unfortunate that they are like this but 10 to 1 - they'd do the same if you had pulled out in front of them as people can't control their anger.

Most Trump supporters I know - don't announce it and why he won the election in 2016.

This is so true, and so worth pointing out. Liberalism in the 19th century was not far from what libertarianism is today. Even mid 20th century liberalism, a la FDR, and JFK, was a far cry from what 21st century liberalism has become. It used to be the party of the ACLU and 'innocent until proven guilty.' Today's liberals cheer on witchhunts and railroadings. See Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh, for instance.
