This goes back to the days of Reagan's "Active Measures" campaign. Although there were many things I disagreed with, one thing that Reagan got right was the threat that the USSR posed to the West, and a clear understanding of the methods they were using to undermine us. Back in those days it was usually called "disinformation", of course that was long before the Internet.
This threat has not gone away, the idea that Russia today has foregone their promise to undermine the USA from within that they made back after WWII is simply ludicrous. This is still their end goal - and today, they have even better tools to accomplish it. They can chip away at our our underpinnings by poisoning our political discourse for example - it doesn't cost them a dime, does not require a standing army or nuclear weapons, and it is very effective to divide and weaken.
The idea that this is about "communism" is a red herring however. This is about POWER, pure and simple. Whether that totalitarian power is obtained through "communism" or "fascism" is almost irrelevant when you reach the end stage of an authoritarian government. Either way, the average citizen under the boot loses their freedoms.
I consider the "communism" vs. "Fascism" semantics at this point. Authoritarianism is authoritarianism.
Communist China has basically "won" since a lot of our goods come from that country. I try not to buy anything made there but it's very difficult. Anyone who is against communism should put their money where their mouth is and stop buying products made there.
If the Declaration's self evident truth prevails, all men are born equal before the law and endowed with rights, liberties, powers, privileges, and immunities that governments were instituted to secure.
But to the the deceivers and predators and slavers of communism (and all the other flavors of collectivism), all men are owned by the state, live for the state and die for the state. That's slavery, and that's not a viable remedy for the ills of mankind.
