There is no such thing as the OLD “run to the middle” after the Primary anymore.
Too much Video Tape, too many Transcripts and the public doesn’t have to rely on the TV Pundits to put out the Propaganda.

Consider also that Bernie really believes his rhetoric, he has been campaigning on his Socialist ideology for most of his life. He only had one message and it is to Transform our entire system of Government into a Socialist Utopia where the people get “free” everything, the Evil Rich Pay for it all and our Borders are open to the World to benefit from the “free”.

I said on several threads before that Sanders may have been able to beat Trump in 2016.

We'll see. In any event, it will be a wild ride and fun to watch between now and then.
If Biden wins, I will be voting for the Libertarian candidate as a protest vote.

I wonder if USMC1984 realized the poll was public, as he is a Republican and tRump supporter

People want single payer healthcare, we're sick of $6k deductibles

Climate change denial - You cannot deny something that does not exist. Liberals say that about God, I say that about climate change.

Racism and xenophobia - Only in the mind of an indoctrinated young leftist. Apparently we live in a country now where upholding laws and protecting borders is racist. Go figure.

Failing healthcare system - Yeah, I'm sure this is at the top of their list. The system is not "failing". This is just another category they want free chit.

Reproductive rights - WTF does that mean? They have the right to reproduce any time they want.

Education - Where is the problem here, and is this just a duplicate of "student loan debt"?
This is the number one issue for me, and I'm one of those truck drivers you speak of (though I obviously don't work where you do). I'm sick and tired of deductibles, which are keeping me from getting a crown I desperately have needed for 2 years now

You're right, things are different now than in the 50's. What are you complaining about?

Newsflash for you.

If your three biggest concerns are LBGTQIA rights, legalizing weed, and getting free everything, you are not on the same page with most people in America.
And if your biggest concern is “traditional values” and running the country based on a “Biblical worldview,” you aren’t on the same page with most people in the country.

None of them are mad as hell. They are happy as can be. 4 of them already have Pilots jobs waiting for them at Delta upon graduation, another will be a jet engine mechanic. Several others are lining up internships.

Who are these young people you are referring to, and why are they mad?

Have young Americans been slighted in some way?

We have record low unemployment and rising wages. We have good affordable Junior Colleges, Trade Schools, and fine Universities. They can choose whichever matches their budget. They don't have to worry about being drafted. They all have cars, cell phones, roofs over their heads, food to eat, girlfriends, boyfriends, ect..

I'm probably living in a bubble, so I'm asking this honestly...I really don't know.
We should resist generalizing personal anecdotal experience. I too have kids who are doing well, but they have many friends who are not. Millions of young people in the US are saddled by student debt even as my own are not. Millions more have to live with roommates to afford outrageous rents. They work two or three jobs to put food on their tables and pay for necessities (and yes, that includes phones). They lose health insurance when they turn 26 and can't be on their parents' anymore. And for millions upon millions of millennials the American dream is truly only a dream. They will never be able to afford the down payment much less the month PITI on a nice home in suburbia. They are paying ever higher taxes - often now called "fees" and the expectation is that these will rise as their boomer parents and grandparents get more benefits and live longer and billionaires who already have 90% of the wealth in America get even more in the form of debt-funded tax cuts that are to be paid back by their generation.

I contrast that with my own experience as a boomer. I paid nine bucks per credit hour for college and graduated owing nothing to anyone. I got a good paying job before I even graduated that provided sufficient income to buy a new home within a month. I bought new cars for years, never needed a side gig waiting tables at a chain restaurant, never thought about health care because no one back then had ever heard of deductibles and copays were $5. And I did not get a $1000 surprise billing from an out of network provider when I got my supposedly free diagnostic workup. Pretty much every year in the Clinton days, my salary went up between 5-10% and even more as I got promotions. I retired when I was in my early 50s.

Trumpers speak of MAGA, but these kids never knew the great America that provided the lifestyle that we enjoyed. They came of age in the worst economic turndown that most of us can remember. They saw their communities being destroyed by plutocrats shipping their parents jobs to China and Mexico. Their own economic situation, in the aggregate, is dire, and their hope for the future is dismal. They are looking for a better way. For them it is not MAGA, just MAG and in their estimation Bernie is the best bet for that.
