After Castro's goons executed one of your family members you could go to the cemetery and find their tombstone by reading the name because of said literacy program.
Don't be such a downer. The glass is always half full.
So, are you saying you are against people being literate?
According to Sanders "When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program." But just what did that "literacy program" teach? Did it teach facts or only what Castro wanted the people to believe? It seems Bernie now praises a dictator. Wonder how long before he becomes like his idol if he gets the chance..
Sanders is right. For all the negative things Castro has done, he has also done some positive things. Just like Hitler , who was a monster, but he also did some good things for the Germans, like building the Autobahn.
Yes, Castro and Hitler are/were terrible people, but some of their programs were aimed at helping their people.
And that’s if the doctors practice medicine at all. I saw a short documentary on Vox where a guy went to Cuba and interviewed people on the street. One was a cab driver who was actually a licensed medical doctor, but he makes way more money driving a cab than being a doctor.
This idiot praises a system like that and half the country are thinking of actually voting for him? Because you hate Trump so much you’re willing to ruin the country? Or is it just because you’re stupid?
Cuba was basically run by the mob and American companies (like there’s a difference) under Bautista. Castro didn’t wind up being much better, but if you recall he approached the US about normalization of relations between the two countries but was rejected by the US because it wasn’t in the interest of US business. We helped create modern Cuba as much as Castro.
He didn’t wind up being better at all. He made it objectively worse. I don’t recall families risking their lives on tiny boats or tires or anything that floats to come to America across shark infested waters when Bautista was in power.
Fidel Castro didn't declare Cuba communist until the USA revoked all of the sugar contracts. It wasn't until relations with the USA soured that such thing took place. The Cuban revolution was not meant to be a communist revolution. Cuba started nationalizing American companies, and then the USA cut them off. That is when Cuba turned to Russia.
