The dominant class was the aristrocracy, people with titles and land granted to them by nobilities. Marx lived in an industrial society where large numbers of people lived in cities and toiled in factories working with machines and not able to feed themselves since there was no free farmland. The dominant social class of the industrial revolution was not the aristrocracy, but the burgeoisie- people with money. The burgeoisie of pre-industrial Europe and America, on the other hand, existed with much less influence, since money could not be transformed as easily into increased production and wealth.

Since Jefferson wasn't contemporaneous with Marx, the point is moot, as well.
Freedom and individual rights cross all classes. Thomas Jefferson believed in the individual and his power to form his own destiny even he has equal right to keep the fruit of his labor and government power is limited. Trust in the people to self govern and strive have a better life for yourself. Marx is a collectivist and believe people as group should have power. Groups are collectism and as a group not all individuals will agree with the collective group. Causing more problems and causing equaility as managed government force. Managed equality means people have to give power to take away the differences in classes and society to be managed by the government or few.
I find this type of thinking to be unamerican and not the values the country was formed on. We have moved closer to the marxist and lenin view of governments role. While it has not move to complete marx or lenin I find it very socialist in nature which leads us closer in this direction. We see this of marxism and socialism in the idealogy hillary and obama have for america.

Is there any history that backs up this supposition?

The only history in regards to Communism is all the suffering and killing that went on.

Look at the U.S. the capitalists ran us into a Great Recession and got bonuses for it. We have starving children, yet the capitalists get millions in subsidies to grow food.

The one percent of America controls 40% of the wealth. They don't even have to produce anything to make a living. They just own capital and rent it out to workers and pay them way below than what they should receive.

Your capitalistic society has eaten away at your democratic republic and turned into a playground for the rich and powerful.
