You must shop at WalMart.

I'd ask you to consider the idea that perhaps these people have poor attitudes because of how WalMart treats its employees. The folks who work at CostCo have jobs that are just as demanding, but they are usually hepful and cheerful. They earn more and receive real benefits.

No More Cashier Jobs?

What's the problem?

You want those people to get higher wages? Write them a check. And/or set up a store that employs them as cashiers, and pay them the wage you believe they deserve.

Problem solved.

Of course, if you find you are losing money hand over fist when you try to lower your prices enough to compete with the no-cashiers store, or if you keep your prices high enough to being in enough money to pay your higher wages and nobody visits your high-price store, that's a whole different problem. What do you intend to do to solve it?

I remember seeing videos on this over a decade ago. It’s taken a while to bring to market.

A Target opened near my house with self check-out and a customer service counter for those that were buying alcohol or didn't want to use the self check-out. Problem is, the customer service is 1 person and there is a line if you don't use one of the 8 self check-outs. This is more unusual for this area and I know a lot of customers do not like it. I have no issue except when I purchase wine on a Friday night and have to wait in line with all the other winos.

Of course we'll be seeing more, since corporations are focused on saving money, not on customer service.

Every time you use a self-checkout machine at a market, you're pushing us in that direction.

I shop at Costco often. Occasionally, I go to Walmart.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Basically, most people working at Walmart would not be hired at Costco.

The Costco workers are clearly a cut above (on average).

More skills, more pay. *shrug*

She is the only one shopping in the store. Why? What happens when the cameras have to watch dozens of people at the same time? I'm guessing that's still a disaster. And you can't sell a disaster... which is why there's only one shopper shopping in this video.

I'd rather interact with a human cashier than to press buttons on an automated machine.
