Diseases throughout history have run rampant between countries. Small pox with the Indians, bubonic plague, TB, sweating sickness....

It just happens a bit faster now, but people have always traveled, and always spread diseases.

Perhaps his argument was poorly worded. While technically we have no data "before countries", there has always been the spread of disease recorded back thousands of years.

As transportation increased (horses, trains, ships, cars, planes) that spread has accelerated.

We had massive disease spread before what the OP considers "globalization" so I'm not sure what his point is?

Don't go on vacation? Don't allow immigrants? Don't leave your state? Your city? Your neighborhood?
