Lame excuse

How much does it cost to make a phone call to ICE?

Any city that declares itself a "Sanctuary City" is motivated by more than finances.

They could ask for federal assistance to help with immigration control if that was their issue.......

Liberal politicians who are allies of illegals will probably just raise taxes, and truthfully, I don’t think they care if they have to raise them 25% or higher just to protect their beloved illegals. The truth is, the majority of Americans want our immigration laws enforced. Trumps stance on illegals alone, will get him elected. People should also realize, our immigration laws are already exceptionally reasonable, actually, too reasonable. Immigrants, legal or otherwise, put an incredible strain on tax payers. Dumping hundreds of thousands of kids in our school system that don’t speak English, which cost money, they dilute wages, compete for scarce housing, congest our roads and highways with more cars, making more pollution, fill our landfills with even more waste, increase more demand for more clean water, all of which are hurting our country.

that's not how it work. I was a former LASD deputy switching to CBP. Miami is making bull**** excuses.

287(g) program was a section under INA. 287(g) deputized some local law enforcement personnel (mostly sheriff departments) to process county jail intakes for criminal illegal aliens and before handing them to ICE for removal. 287(g) is funded by ICE, including bed space. Local authority doesn't pay a dime. In fact, LASD was making money by renting bed spaces to ICE.

Some local law enforcement agencies took a harder approach on immigration enforcement, like Sheriff Joe Arpaio with the Maricopa County Sheriff, by rounding up all the illegals on the streets and handing them to ICE. DOJ under Obama's in 2011 told Joe Arpaio to stop it.

Lets hope the lay-offs will be minimal.
Those that believe that they are above the law will find out that they aren't. It's about time someone took the authority to see that the laws are enforced and those (sheriffs, sanctuary cities) who break it are not doing so with authority.

Another big win for Trump. Does the winning never end?

Yes, there is no federal law to mandate local LE to enforce immigration, so it boils down to a 'want'.

Even a child would know expense doesn't end with a phone call.

Of course those who were arrested for crimes would be held, but those whose only infraction was related to immigration status were taking up all the space and resources at local jails and it became a problem.

In case of Miami, the new mayor rescinded a policy of insisting the U.S. government pay for detention of such persons, so now the expense is back on the shoulders of local citizens whether they like it or not. I do not think it is unreasonable to ask feds to pay for locals to do their jobs, but of course the FatBobs from the country side don't give a rip.

Again, there is no law which mandates local LE to enforce immigration. You have been lied to.

The government is mandating local taxpayers to carry the extra cost of performing the duties of the federal government, and some people dont like being forced to pay for something they dont need.

EXCELLENT!!!!

Cities put citizens and cops in danger. Sanctuary cities and states are a safety hazard. the only one endangering citizens are the govs and mayors declaring themselves sanctuaries.
