How is it that we're such a rich nation, supposedly all that and a bag of chips, when other nations like South Korea, China, and Italy have been able to test at drastically greater volume than we are? And not only are we the richest, we also had the benefit of like two months of foresight into this situation. Epidemiologists and doctors are pointing out daily how we've dropped the ball on this.
Why isn't Trump's CDC appointee kicking some asses over there? Why isn't Trump? I think he realizes this is already a **** show, which is why he shoved Mike Pence into the spotlight to take the hit.
If you don't even have working capacity to test at scale, you're in the dark as to the real current scope of the problem you're trying to tackle. How can you be successful this way?
We are such a pathetic popsicle stand.
Trump's reaction to any bad news is to first deny it + blame the media, and when that fails, he tries to downplay it.
Imagine a fireman with that mentality........
No, we needed leadership, and we didn't have it. Trump nominated Pence to fix it, who then headed down to Florida to raise money for Trumps re-election campaign, which says everything about their priorities.
SHTF won't happen. Disruptions, yes. But a breakdown of our society? Not going to happen. Covid is like a bad flu going around.
Breakdown of society may not happen in the near term, but yes, it will eventually happen. There is no society on earth that gets eaten from within that doesn't end up falling.
If I had to do it I could.. I'd get stir crazy and hate not even being able to walk on a nice day outside..
Who would enforce all this too? If you caught someone outside what would you do have cops in suits arrest you? Our society isn't built for this
I was thinking about this days ago and cant really see how it could be enforced.
I live in a small town with about 30,000 people. There are three main roads running north/south that could easily be blocked off. But, there are a ton of roads running east/west in and out of town. Then there are all the people living in the unincorporated area around the town....basically in no mans land between towns....and they would have to be patrolled by county sheriffs.
The city police have trouble keeping people off main street when there is a parade lol.
There simply are not enough LEO to enforce something like this imo.
If I'm not mistaken, the poster was saying love the country or leave it. I said I love it, but don't love who's in charge, so I'm staying to try to remedy that.
When you have a moron like Trump who appoints a science averse, religious nutjob Vice President to be the point man in our response to the crisis, well, don't expect a favorable outcome.
Still bitter Hillary didn't we are we?

Let me get this straight...in the flu season of 2018/19 the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died. That’s fairly on par with a typical season.
Just to put this coronavirus in perspective we have had 232 cases and 14 deaths this flu season so far. Compare this to CDC US estimates indicate that there have been 13 million influenza illnesses in the 2019/2020 flu season, 120,000 hospitalizations, and 6600 flu-related deaths and we are not finished with this flu season.

I agree that we will eventually collapse. It might even be a virus, just not this virus.
