The CDC wanted to specifically to advise the elderly and those with medical conditions not to fly. The Administration cut that recommendation, obviously for political reasons.
CDC was wrong. There is no end to it once you delve into telling people what specific activitie to do or not do. If you tell them not to fly on commercial airliners, do you also tell them not to attend baseball games, not to shop at busy stores, not to play slots at casinos, not to take cruises, not to attend family reunions, etc.? The right thing to do is to advise people to stay at home and avoid large groups of people and let them interpret that to their specific activities.
BS. President Trump restricted travel from China a month before the news became prevalent.
Incorrect. The news was widespread by the time he suspended flights from China.
But he never suspended flights from Italy, which has a huge outbreak. Many of the new positives in the USA are from people which traveled to Italy and brought Coronavirus back from Italy.
Dang. I really thought that people understood you can get COVID-19 by touching your face with hands that have come in contact with the virus. Hence all of the recommendations about washing hands frequently and the mad hoarding of hand sanitizer. Most of us, when we touch our faces do so to rub our eyes or noses. or put something in our mouths. If you literally just touch the skin on your cheek or chin or forehead the virus just sits there waiting for you to rub it into your eyes or nose.
My original post. Note you did not quote the qualifying part of my statement.
To be even more specific: a mask will not help if there are droplets of secretions containing SARS-CoV-19 on the mask, you touch the contaminated part of the mask when you remove it, and then you touch your face, i.e. your nose, mouth, or eyes, with the unwashed hands that touched the mask. That mask will indeed do absolutely nothing to protect you.
Lots of ifs in there. The point is the mask helps because without the mask blocking those droplets you definitely would have been contaminated. By wearing the mask you reduced it to a possibility of being contaminated. You act like one is going to instantly drop dead if one scratches their nose. What is your point? That because there's a chance someone will handle the mask wrong resulting in a chance that that they become infected then wearing masks is of no value to anyone?
I have no issue with you giving guidance on the proper way to use masks. It's really not that complicated.

This was the entire point of my post. Improper removal of a contaminated mask nullifies any benefit of using it.
