Suddenly those tax cuts Trump handed out like candy aren't looking so good..

I agree. We all collectively licked the boots of Trump's rich friends. It was 'party time' for the big donors to the Republican party for a while there. Hubris.

Now we have massive Federal deficits and almost no tools left in the box to deal with any possible emerging economic crises. In fact, Republicans are at this very time still working out how they will cut more of the social safety net out from under the ordinary hard working folks of this country.

Sad.

Yea who gives a crap about this country's financial condition - its far more important to stick it to the libs! 'Murica!

This post is a microcosm everything wrong with our political climate. Its pathetic.

He's just saying that to try to salvage the economy.

I think it's funny how many of his lapdogs are eating this up and not screaming about it being socialism, though. What happened to, "Pull yourselves up by your bootstraps and figure it out own your own!"? I guess that doesn't apply when the guy handing out money is on Team Red.

I hate Democrats so much that I'm more than willing to let Trump tank the country and then hand it back to the Democrats and make them fix it. But more so than that, I'm hoping Trump tanks it so badly that it's impossible for the Democrats to fix, and then everyone will blame the Democrats!

Meanwhile, millions of Americans will suffer, but so what, right?

You truly hate your own country. Why?

SK testing 10,000 a day, the US just now managed to test everyone in a nursing home that has the majority of deaths in this country.

Well Trump did make but a token appearance at yesterday's news conference before he shuffled off. I agree the less Trump says the better.

The credibility gap is going to become problematic. The Surgeon General comes across as spouting a WH not medical position. There is a difference between that and attempting to calm the public - with that line impossible to now discern.

And then with the CDC periodically muffled or overruled (for example, language making clear who should not be flying domestically) it, too, starts to lose credibility.

None of that is good, not in the least.

You have to remember, the Trump base is bought in, hook line and sinker that we are all going to socialism, so in their alternative world, that is the reality.

For the rest of us, we know the Gov't doesn't own everything, and we also understand that Taxes is not some gift to the Gov't. It's just a way of paying for things like infrastructure, military protection, an educated workforce. Here in the REAL WORLD, we understand that 'society' works better than the Trump-Dream of every man for himself.

Perhaps those who hate paying ANY taxes would rather get their goods to market in Humvees, through the unpaved tundra, with armed guards to protect them, and if they get sick, they can drop some leeches on themselves to suck out the devil? Honestly, "you people" really don't think about what you're saying. The IMPLICATIONS of what you fight for are exactly that. No tax means no society at all. It's just as rediculous as your FANTASY that everyone on the left wants 100% Socialism, like you implied with your statement that people thing EVERYTHING should belong to the Gov't.

Just plain ignorance, and you can't argue with it, because they are so sure of themselves. (And before your feelings get hurt, calling someone ignorant is not an insult, nor a personal attack, it just highlights the fact, based on what you typed, that you are not well informed. It's an opportunity for you, if you'll just open up to reality.)

This is the political forum so it's fine to discuss the political aspects of how our leaders approach this crisis. Trump's informal rambling style does not lend itself to the clear discourse we need.

For example, Trump made the 'work comments' in the context of minimizing the virus. To those who consider this a serious challenge that is not helpful nor is it reassuring to hear the ultimate decision maker taking that tact.

What I would have wanted to hear from Trump along those lines is that covid-19 can be so mild and initially asymptomatic that it spreads easily - with precautions necessary in all settings, including work.

He was spinning. That is not acceptable.

I love my country, and I love how the Republicans are outmaneuvering the Democrats on spending, and buying more votes than they can. We are beating them at their own game...love it!
