b) undermines the financial well-being of Social Security and Medicare.
Congress is already derelict for kicking the can down the road and not shoring up financing Social Security and Medicare. Trump's tax holiday just adds more red ink to both these popular and critical programs.
It doesn't make sense to address a public health crisis by creating a funding crisis in Soc Sec and Medicare.
Plus the NBA is hopelessly liberal and hopelessly political. It's a worthless league with worthless anti-American LWNJs in it. The NBA will do whatever it takes to cowtow to the left. It did.

These are early days and we are on the ascendant part of the curve. The exact shape of *our* curve is still being determined. So we can't predict what the max cases per day will be, or when it will occur. In fact it's the goal of public health officials to alter the curve while we are "riding it", that is push it down and to the right. That's the reasoning behind all these instructions on hand washing, face touching, the cancelling of school sessions, large public events, people working at home, etc.
But I think it *is* safe to say that these are early days, and even with our best efforts, things will get worse before they get better.
I doubt MLB will cancel. Time favors them. Assuming this dies down in terms of new cases in the next few weeks (reports indicate China <100 new cases/day with what 5x our population), for the NBA that already took them near the end of regular season. For MLB, a few weeks gets them to opening day.
Timing placed NBA in the worst situation of any sport regarding this virus, as does the fact NBA has the most personal contact in a confined setting.
I hope you're right about MLB, but I don't share your optimism that this is going to have died down in the next few weeks. We'll see.

The name of this virus, Covid-19 indicates that it is the 19th coronavirus named in this sequence. In other words, coronaviruses are not new or unfamiliar. Nor are the procedures for handling a virus like this.
The way that the media and the left are politically leveraging this situation is not the correct way to handle this. Here is an excellent article that observes that while the politicians and the media are panicking, our doctors very interestingly, are not.
Global lockdown and containment is great way to destroy people's lives and to wreck the world economy. But there is literally no reason to believe that doing this will stop the spread of this disease.
Instead, doctors need to be prepared to treat the disease and people should take reasonable precautions, especially if they know they have the virus, so that they will not spread it unnecessarily to others. This is why we were kept home from school as children when we got a communicable illness.
The answer was not ever to shut down all the schools, and our entire society for that matter. Nor should it have been. Obviously some people are operating from a political motive here. The costs associated with mass economic damage are acceptable to them, if it gives them another chance at trying harm President Trump - the harm that causes to everyone else's lives be damned.
So for those of you who just watch too much TV news, or who are just very emotional and therefore very susceptible to being swept along by the latest mass media led, mob style panic - come to your senses.
Just to clarify - Covid-19 was not because 19th variation, it was because it was identified in 2019.
