What is going on with ME? Why is Turkey looking to become the next regional police, and get itself mired in a war with no end in sight? Since this began, Turkey has taken in a lot of refugees. Do they want more?

If the US in Syria, and Iraq, and doing all the work, why would you want to volunteer? Turkey does not even have the resources of USA. Turkey is not even trying to support any legit govt there that can bring stability.

Now they having beef with Russia. At lease Russia support a viable leader in Assad. If Turkey really want to curb Russian, and Iran influence in the area, they should just beg USA to stay, or pay one of the rebels to do something to prompt USA to stay.

Now in the arena of Turkey vs Russia. Turkey can cut off the Bosporus or Dardanelles. I dont know how Russia going to react to that.

Does Turkey want to go bankrupt? Its just so odd. There are plenty of Kurds in Northern Iraq and border Turkey. Why dont Turkey go there too? Because defeating the Kurds in Syria is just going to make the other Kurds more mad. They are not winning anything.

All this be over if the Turks not jump in.

I think Turkey’s motive from the beginning was to prevent any consolidation of the power, or the territory, of an ethnic minority- the Kurds.

This is confusing, Turkey recently bought and installed a new Russian anti-aircraft missile system. I'm sure they still need Russia to provide training, software support and ongoing maintenance for the missiles, so Turkey is in a bit of a bind.

Who knows what Turkey is going to do next. After the coup attempt against Erdogan a few years ago, he has gone schizoid. A coup will do that to a leader

But it looks like the Kurds will still have a power base in Iraq. If the Turks plan on conquering and holding that section of Syria, the SDF (Kurds, assyrians etc etc) will always have support from abroad. And Assad will likely help out too as I am sure he will not like losing turf to Erdogan.

A Russian airstrike kills 33 Turkish servicemen in Idlib just before.

Is like the USA fighting the Saudi backed ISIS in Iraq, while supporting Saudi proxy efforts in Yemen.
