When he said "their new hoax", he was referring to democrats politicizing the virus, as he mention a few sentences earlier.

Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus, you know that right? Coronavirus, they’re politicizing it.
Why would Trump acknowledge the coronavirus issue, and then call it a hoax immediately afterwards? Does that make sense in the mind of the deranged?

And why as President would he even go there with such an important issue? Why wouldn’t he show leadership by only speaking about in terms of facts, staying away from controversy, deferring to experts, and recognizing this was not the time to be flippant? Not much too ask for from the guy who so many people think is the greatest ever.

General purpose face masks are easy to make if you have a sewing machine. There are kits that you can buy (usually from China) that are very cheap, and have everything needed inside to make the masks. 100 years ago, Americans would never have to worry about a shortage of something so simple that can be easily made at home

They mainly prevent the person wearing them from spitting when they talk and spreading germs if infected. They are more of a courtesy to the rest of the public. The less germs floating around for others to pick up, the better. Viruses are incredibly small, much smaller than most bacteria. I have my doubts if even the N95 masks do any good for the person wearing it.

Because 73 year old men who are accustom all their life not to do anything other than what they believe made them "successful" don't have the capacity to exhibit changed behavior. It's like thinking a pig can fly. Ain't going to happen. The sooner we all accept that, the sooner we can move on in hopes of supporting someone with the ability to listen and learn. Pretty simple really.

Because they watch left wing media like MSNBC and CNN. And that fake news about the renowned epidemic doctor being “muzzled” quickly got debunked earlier.

I’m telling you, left wing media had been effortlessly brainwashing their listeners. Idiots!

Plenty of DIY facemask instructions online with no sewing machine required.

So in 8 months they will have what was claimed to be needed NOW (by the HHS guy in Congress)????

Great!ir

Trump said it would likely go away in April due to the warm weather anyway - so I don't know what good the masks will do us anyway.

If the science is correct - and we get to having to wear masks, we are completely screwed. That's because the masks ONLY stop people who have it from spreading it.....they don't protect the person wearing it.

Given the American "freedom" of not washing your hands and doing what people want, I don't see how masks are going to stop this thing. Masks will be better than no Mask but it is not the solution.

The only "political" part of this is discussed in other threads...not sure why this is in the forum unless one wants to debate why Trump and Bolton did away with the folks that were supposed to be ready for this kind of thing, etc.

If Masks were the answer China would not be locking up millions in their homes and cities and using machines to spread disinfectant in every street, building and on people.

This is a fairly simple thing in that regard. We can't stop it. Only time will tell where the spread of it came from in the USA.....we already know SOME of that, but eventually we will know more.

These things are very strange....like SARS and MERS didn't just play out. They sorta disappeared....but if we were exposed to them we'd get them! So how did they go away?

There are a couple possibilities. It can mutate in a POSITIVE way for us....so that it spreads to 10's of millions but kills or hurts almost no one.

"Pandemics end when the virus doesn't have enough susceptible people to infect. "

Other than that, there is containment......right? And if those planeloads of people and others are already infecting others without knowing it (along with others who traveled) containment is unlikely.....

Funny...none of the ways it ends mentions going Away In April. I wonder where Trump got that "science" from?

"viruses like influenza have just as big of a burden in tropical areas as temperate ones." - and it certainly doesn't get tropical where the vast majority of Americans live anyway! The temperatures in most of the public places we Americans hang is within a few degrees whether summer or winter, right?

So why would the virus, for example, settle on surfaces in an airport restroom in March but not in April?

If we do come up with a vaccine many Americans won't take it...and it would likely not be 100% anyway.

I think the optimistic view is that it mutates in a positive fashion (for us, the virus could care less.....it just wants to breed)....and then just settles down when most everyone gets it.

"Even if the coronavirus is eradicated among humans, if the virus continues to survive in its natural form in animal reservoirs, those reservoirs can put the virus back into circulation,"

"There's a chance that, even if we manage to quench this virus, it might turn into a seasonal disease, making a comeback every year like other seasonal diseases such as the flu or colds"

If one is the praying type the main thing, at this point, would be to ask the Lord to make the mortality rate lower as it plows through the population.

How about we all go vegetarian?
