So to me, nope not worth it.
Yeh.. certainly would leave it up to the company. I would expect a professional trucker, esp one that hauls hazardous materials, go through alcohol/whatever testing and risk their license with any substance.

Want to enjoy alcohol and/smoke, don't be a truck driver...

Your logic is flawed bc most people who think you're a loser for *routinely* unwinding with drugs probably also think you're a loser for unwinding with booze.

I personally don't care what people do in their own homes, but sadly, so many people do this crap in public (drugs/alcohol) and affect other people.

Also, if people require mind-altering substances to self-medicate from their work, deep introspection is required about the job, the lifestyle, and how to approach life differently.

I say this as someone who did realize all *I* was doing to "medicate" away the physical, mental, and emotional unhappiness/dissatisfaction/stress of the work.

Changed jobs and cut back and now don't need to unwind in unhealthy ways. Make less money, yes. But you can't buy health, time, and a sense of well-being.

The real question is why do you care whether or not something is "socially acceptable"?

Agreed. The question should be where does anyone get the authority to tell someone what they can put into or do to their own body?

Depending where you may live, who is to say it isn't.

The "you are my property" complex people. They usually hold office, or have a position of authority(over your person)

Where do you think the police get the authority to slap cuffs around your wrists. Law Enforcement is given authority.
