In the range of social acceptability now, my theory is that among the majority of the population in order from most to least acceptable it's alcohol being the most socially acceptable, then marijuana, with tobacco (specifically cigarettes) now being the least acceptable. Alcohol is even getting praised now for economic development with various craft beer pubs going into old abandoned buildings and things of that nature.

Exceptions to this might be among fundamentalists and perhaps certain conservatives who don't mind tobacco use as much, but see alcohol as sinful, and weed as blasphemous. That may be slowly changing, but there was a strong inclination that way as recently as a couple of decades ago.

I don't use any of these or other illicit substances (minus a rare glass of wine at a wedding celebration- some 4 years ago) so this doesn't really affect me much.

Thirty years Ago before I retired I ran big electronic shops in a Fortune 20 Company. We had a whole set of computer scientists and engineers. We knew that pot use was wide spread. In actual fact it was much worse on the marketing side of the shop. It was also clear that management never noticed. Nothing in writing but you did not mess with the bright guys over pot.

So for at least 50 years the Phds have had free use as far as tech types of the high level in the computer industry. Made for some very pleasant nights on the road.

We were on the verge of eliminating open smoking then came vaping now pot. ALL are a stench and need to be limited to very designated places and/or ones home. Some apartment buildings will have to ban it as well because of the stench, smoke etc. Also keep in mind many landlords don't want smokers as-is nor will they want potheads.

Still very slick how the pot lobby turned an intoxicating chemical into a rights issue. Which makes most think it's 'safe' when it's not.

Keep in mind yeh it might be legal or "acceptable" but come to work smelling like pot head you will soon lose the source of money to buy that high. Ooooops forgot a lot of potheads seem to get by without working.

People who judge poorly their brother are not good people ~ there are people who are good Americans, yet they are Atheists, when they are not arguing with the Left wing they attack Christians, their brothers on line, thinking they themselves are too smart to believe in God ~ so they cut off their nose to spite their face, fighting with their brothers ~ some do that with Bush (Cannabis) acting like God (Thou Shall Not Smoke This Plant) their face is dripping with stupid ~ we have to tell them: Wake up Jack, The Enemy is Over There !!! They're taking your country and You're hanging on this ~ we don't care about that problem of your ~ lets together see if we can save America ~ come on friend ~ you're not smarter than your brothers we've just as much brains education ~ wake up ~ enemy is over there ```

"Safe" - compared to what? Alcohol? safer versus alcohol almost anytime. I occasionally use it as a sleep aid but never smoke it. Old lungs.

And as I pointed above there are significant high level tech areas where the use is common and ignored.

And there are many ultimate labs where the odor of marijuana is quite normal.

You can complain but our betters chose for themselves.

Momma's Folks came to America in the Late 1800s, Medzhyer, Grandfather started the ranch, grape ranch, Mother had one sister and ten brothers ~ Mother and some uncles were born here ~ so in the early 1900s it came to pass: One brother had 20 acres, another had 12 acres, still another had 40 and so on, Uncle John had the warehouse and the family made a great Brandy every bit as good as they made in the old country. and sold it at a fair price ~ they named the area after the Garden of Eden ~ a few years later Brandy became against the law, but that didn't change anything, Momma said: We got a new buggy every year, Buggies cost $60 that was no small sum, one day Federal officers came to the Sheriffs house and told him " Get in the car" and they left someone at his house so his wife couldn't call Uncle John ~ My Father was working for the family at the time, Daddy said: Trucks were puling in and out, bring, taking ~ the Feds came with their own trucks ~ You know how in the movies the break everything up with axes ~ Father said:
They didn't spill a drop, loaded the boxes of this wonderful Brandy, on the trucks, each box carried Six Or eight bottles ~ they said to the Sheriff: There's your prisoner, Bye ~ they stole everything ~ you think they took it away and broke the bottles or poured it down the drain ```

Another famous pot puffer was jazz trumpeter Louis Armstrong, maybe the most beloved musician in American history. So let me guess. You don't particularly care for Satchmo either?

No. But I don’t like Jazz music either so no big surprise there whether he was a burnout stoner or not.

I get the impression that Donnie and Marie are more to your taste.

A lot of people owe a big debt of gratitude to your so called "potheads" - their cliched Cheech and Chong behaviour make folk like yourself think they have their finger on the pulse, when it comes to identifying people that use cannabis.

The reality is far different, and the majority of regular pot users fly under the radar ... even ones that chaff up on a daily basis.
