Anyone check the stock prices of the cruise lines? And will they ever recover from this?
There are more than 25 million global cruise ship passengers a year with more than 1000 ports around the world.
Any contraction will have a ripple effect on airlines, local lodging, provisions, transportation, dining, tours etc. For example, the Alaska economy is very dependent on tourism, most of which is cruise ship.
Last I checked, Alaska imposed the highest port taxes and fees on all cruise ship passengers. A contraction would be devastating to the state and especially local economies.
What routinely comes from this administration are lies, distortion, exaggeration and propaganda, all in the service of propping up an inept president. Yes, the world knows not to trust the word of the Trump Administration, which is the official word of the U.S. Our reputation in the eyes of the world has been thoroughly trashed by this president.
Specifically what lies, distortion, exaggeration and propaganda are you talking about? The U.S. added 273,000 jobs last month even with the corona virus. So, specifically, what the H*ll are you talking about?

The Coronavirus was barely getting started in this country last month. Not so this month. And it will be even more widespread next month. The Dow is crashing. The hospitality industry is tanking. It will have a ripple effect throughout the economy.
In short, the immediate future looks bleak. Get back to us in another month and we'll talk numbers then. They aren't going to look so rosy by then.
In case anybody is interested, it looks like the cruise lines are starting to adjust policies. As of this afternoon, this is now posted on Royal Caribbean's site and likely pertains to the other lines they own (Like Celebrity).
"We get it. Whether you’re already booked on a cruise, or are thinking about it, we want you to Cruise with Confidence. That’s why Royal Caribbean will let you cancel any cruise that sets sail from now through July 31, 2020. Whether it’s a booking you already have or one you make right now, you’re covered. As long as you cancel at least 48 hours before you set sail, you’ll receive a Future Cruise Credit. The credit can be used toward any cruise that sets sail through December 31, 2021."
