A lot of times those Indians were hired preciously to replace the higher paid Americans who used to hold those positions, and once they taught their H-1B replacements "the 'bowels' of some business applications" the Americans were let go.
Yes, I know. And once they become familiar with the details, they are not cheap anymore. I work with Indians who are NOT cheap since their employers are totally dependent on them.
No it doesn’t need to be wound down. Indian Managers post jobs with ridiculous requirements, then when they can’t be filled, they abuse h1b by recruiting family members who have fake degrees. We need to give Americans priority and boot the Indians.
If you boot out 95% of your software engineers, managers and testers you will go under. Its common sense that you cant replace the whole staff overnight.

Not only that, but the spouses of the Indians are given a fake work history and also trained to take American jobs. These people have invaded the workforce and do favors for other Indians so they can keep the cycle going.
Sure. Suspend it, and let the ones who are already here to work until the visa expires.
Unfortunately it could drive companies to move the jobs overseas.
Let their systems go down in flames, then.
I'll pivot to being a highly-paid consultant. That's essentially what I do now anyway except for the "highly-paid" part. I spend most of my time finding and fixing their incompetence.
What's funny is when one of them who is offshore sends me a screenshot and a vague description of a database issue and expects me to fix it "ASAP" because their project "is now high priority in company." And it's not even a database issue; it's a network issue. They can't tell the difference because they're a bunch of idiots.

My point was that originally the people that new the systems had a train H1B recipients how to do their job, so it's just a simple matter of the H1B recipients teaching Americans how to do that same job. I don't see any difference here

I ran out of rep but your post is spot on
Unbelievable the excuses that some come up with to try and keep H1-Bs. SMH.
Republicans, specifically George W. Bush, created this problem.
While true, he isn't in office anymore. Klobuchar likes to get deals done, but it seems she can be bi-partisan for the wrong deals. She's just like Biden.
The majority of H1-B holders are not displacing American workers in the sensationalist way that people often describe.
Sure, root out corruption where it exists. But, open immigration is one of the biggest advantages that the US economy has, and many of people on H1-B are exceptionally bright.
The larger problem is American companies outsourcing IT to India, which often leads to innumerable headaches.
