In a refugee family with 3 children moves to NY where they spend $23,000 per student for schools, three children being educated for 13 years would cost around $900,000 more.

Looking at a million dollars or more in costs between the refugee adults and if they have 3 children the costs to educate their children.

A vast majority of those $133,000 price tag for adult only refugees come with very high families as a vast majority of refugees come from countries where high birth rates are a tradition.

$133,000 is the cost for an adult then, but in a state like NY one is looking at $900,000 to educate a refugee family who has three children plus there are lots of very generous programs that are subsidized for exclusively for refugees.

So. What did it cost when your ancestors came here seeking refuge? And don’t tell me they came here with money because that’s definitely not true.

Mine came here (legally) and worked in factories 14 hours a day, 6 days a week, sometimes 7. My great grandfather also fought in WW1, and worked to supply the war effort in WW2. His son went on to fight in WW2. They worked hard, paid taxes, gave much to this nation, and were definitely NOT on the take.

They came here broke. They had no dough. If they had any real money, they wouldn’t have come here.

So my point is that the United States has been resettling people needing refuge all through our history. And it was never FREE!! It cost money.

That your family worked like dogs after arriving is nothing special. It was a muscular time, and all Americans worked themselves to death to get by. Hell, my ancestors worked their asses off for decades in this country for NO compensation at all, and they worked a helluva lot more hours than your ancestors did.

So let’s not get carried away with the European immigrant Romanticism.

The refugees who come here also work hard, and get their children educated to become future doctors and entrepreneurs making the country a better place. They also come here legally, btw. American citizens are generally the "takers", whether they be permanent social welfare recipients or billionaire tax cheats. Refugees and most immigrants in general take advantage of the opportunities given to better their lives and promote future generations.

You don't know anything about my ancestors. My great grandparents were not poor. They were middle class Europeans trying to escape the problems in Europe. It's a good thing they did, because their country was later overrun by Nazis, and then socialists. I'm sure they had to pay something to get here. You can't just walk or swim across the ocean.

The question begs. Those alleged refugees, did they imeadietly go on the government dime upon arrival? No they didn't and that makes it a world of difference.

Also, there was no welfare back then. You either sank or swam.

I note no link to your claims. Our welfare coffers should go to our "truly needy" citizens not foreigners. No one is advocating for billionaire tax cheats so stop changing the subject.
