I normally agree with a lot of the OP's opinions, but on this one is clearly wrong.

I posted my opinion on this story when the topic was originally posted in the Current Events section (but since deleted).

Not only was the customer wrong, but I felt even more disgusted by the spineless manager who apparently without hesitation catered to the customer's demand. A manager that cannot defend/support their underlings in times like these, is someone that does NOT deserve to manage anyone, period. The customer is NOT always right.

Imagine if a customer refused to be served by someone that was in the military, or law enforcement, or a supporter of a politician. See how wrong it is now?

Some are trying to cast doubt on this story, but I'm pretty sure Olive Garden did their investigation and heard the manager's side of the story.

Still racist?
I actually waited on Aretha Franklin when I was working at Jumer's Chateau in Bloomington, IL in 1995. No, I'm not black.

Yes, I am. The info directly related how intelligence affected income level. Since we already know Dem voters earn less, even those with a college education, we can also deduce that they're less intelligent.

Yes, we do. Look carefully at the Income Status info, particularly at the satisfaction of financial situation stats:

Economic Demographics of Democrats

Expanded info from that same site, debt.org:

Quote:
"An individual’s likelihood of being a Democrat decreases with every additional dollar he or she earns. Democrats have a huge advantage (63 percent) with voters earning less than $15,000 per year. This advantage carries forward for individuals earning up to $50,000 per year, and then turns in the Republicans’ favor — with just 36 percent of individuals earning more than $200,000 per year supporting Democrats."

If I was the manager of a restaurant and a customer requested a person of a different race because he didn't like his server's race, it would take all of my adult composure to ask the customer to leave firmly without emotion as I would be very angry. a manager that would accommodate such a request in his restaurant would show very poor judgement.

No confusion whatsoever:

And here's more:

Hillary won the bottom two income groups in 2016. Trump won the top four. And in 2012, Only college graduates who earned less voted a majority for Obama.

you would accept and promote racism in a large-venue restaurant because it was a customer exhibiting racism?

It is a straw argument to make it look like Democrats are "leaches", not the backwoods Republicans in the bible belt whom are shown to be more often than not actually the real "leaches."

Another POSSIBLE side: The customer may have dined there several times and received horrible service from the black waitress, and upon realizing they were in her section, the exchange went like this:

Customer, "I'd like another waitress."

Hostess, "What?"

Customer (who doesn't know the name of any of the wait staff), "I don't want that black waitress."

Hostess, "Excuse me?"

Customer, pointing to waitress she had been happy with before (who happened to be white), "I'd prefer that white waitress over there to serve us."

And then it devolved from there.

Do I know this is what happened? Of course not, but we are only getting one side of the story; therefore, treating it as fact is a bit silly considering how many times the scenario has changed once we hear the other side.

Don't forget, we had video proof that a racist white kid was bullying a proud native American, until the rest of the video came out.
