Neither Donald Trump or Mike Pence will attend the annual St Patrick's Day Lunch on Capitol Hill this year. They were extended invitations by the Speaker which by tradition hosts the lunch and always invites both the president and vice president. It will be just the fourth time since the lunch was started back in 1987 that the sitting president did not attend. The vice president however stood in and attended on those four occasions. The decision to decline will mark the first time ever in the lunch's 30 some years that neither officeholder has attended.

Why should they give ANY quarter to Nancy Pelosi? She's a tool at best and a waste of time and an embarrassment to the US House.

It is usually seen as a good way to appeal to the Irish Americans, of which there are many.

Will it cause Irish Americans to turn against Mr. Trump? I have no idea. Perhaps a few.

Even after the Clinton impeachment and cool relstions between Bill Clinton and Speaker Gingrich, the administration still sent either Clinton or Gore.

Totally different situations here.

Clinton was caught with his pants down, and he lied under oath.

Trump is subject to a partisan witch hunt for three years with continuous attacks him him, his family, and those who support him.

As long as we're just posting opinions, let me say Trump's a tool at best and an embarrassment to the White House.
