Gas going for $2.81 -.2.99 a gallon (reg). If I want to pay the lower amount and who doesn't, I'd have to drive 15-20 miles. We usually have other reasons to go that way anyways. Costco shopping, mainly. I've got a gift certificate to use. Not that much off. I forget if you can use the certificate in the cafe? I'm sure we'll find a way to spend it/use it.

Democrats are in denial about Biden's plan of high gas prices on the American people. But their hurting too. They just won't admit it.

Dunno about gas, natural gas is a pretty fungible market :P

As for gasoline...it’s been level for about three weeks, no drop. But at my fuel efficiency it doesn’t hurt that much. Around 5 gal/week and hovering around 45mpg. While at heart I love big classic American iron, it’s nice to not actually have to worry about this or parking lot dings. Going with old beaters has really taken a lot of stress out of my life.

Oil markets have also been pretty stable, major grades of crude staying stable at around or just above $70/bbl.

Look at markets first and politics second.

We just got back from a 6,000 mile loop through 14 states on a trip to Yellowstone. We paid an average of just under $3.00 for just over 300 gallons on the trip. West of the Mississippi was more expensive, @ $3.25. We paid $2.69 in Alabama. I filled up here in Columbia last week for $2.64.

Some of the pricing may have been due to the week of July 4. The $2.64 was a dime cheaper than it was when we left.

LOL -- When I first saw the thread title, I was like -- WHAT??!!

Then I saw this thread was started in March 2020!

Anyway, about $1,79 then and about $3.05 now. It just, generally, keeps going up here. After Biden was elected (or took office, I forget which), it almost immediately went up to about $2.69 a gallon from about $1.89 a gallon just a month or so before the election IF memory serves.

Btw, it has seemed to me -- and I am 67, btw -- that in the last 20 or so years, gas has always gone DOWN right before a general election. I never noticed it before until my husband pointed it out to me. (He worked in the oil and gas industry, so he was more aware of the oil situation than I was.)

Our gas prices did drop since the July 4th weekend high. We were up to $3.70 (Costco) then, and when I filled up this weekend at the same place it was just $3.49. That March, 2020 low was due to no demand with the lockdowns. While many of us are still working from home, people have resumed summer travel as witnessed by crowded interstates, and the record sales of RVs and travel trailers.

The Interstates are no more crowded now than before covid, but gas prices were lower.

It is rigged to go down like a clown. It has always been a rigged game to rip of us. I am so happy to be done with gas.

No surprise it's gone up. Demand is at an all time high this summer, due to people being eager to hit the road. I visit my sister who lives in a vacation destination every 4th of July, and last year no one was there. But this year, oh, man, the crowds were the biggest I've ever seen, and I've been making this trip for 20 years now.

Demand makes the cost go up. It's not rocket science. And it's also got nothing to do with Biden.
