New York - together - the United Nations decided to close its headquarters in New York, to the public until further notice, as a preventive measure.
On Wednesday, a spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stephen Dujrik, said that half of the staff at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York are now working from their homes as a virus.
Stefan Dujerik, vehemently denied the existence of any case among the building's Secretariat staff, who was speaking at a press conference at the organization's headquarters.
"We have very strong plans to deal with the current situation, which is similar to the plans that we launched during Hurricane Sandy, which struck the United States in 2012, and now half of the workers in this building are working from their homes," said Dugrik. "We are now studying the implementation of this press conference remotely via a television circuit, and we are ready for that," he added.
That's a smart precaution, since they must have so many international people coming and going. But it will be tough on all the small businesses nearby.
