I agree. Without consistent rules across the nation, we are bailing out the Titanic with a thimble.
Listening to him speak is a balm for the nation. This is what a reasoned, well-informed leader sounds like. It's such a stark contrast to Trump it's depressing.

I personally don't like it no matter what.

Also unsurprising that Democrats would fear "state shopping" as their policies typically drive people and business away. If they had it their way, they'd assert totalitarian power so that there'd be no escape from their mandates. It's fortunate they don't have that kind of power and hopefully they never will.

One of the great strengths of this country is local rule. If you don't like the laws in one state, you can go to another. Cuomo has a short sighted desire to end that.

You need to take your partisan blinders off. This is a medical crisis beyond what you can currently understand. I am a medical professional and this is....going to get much worse!

We need to work together as a nation to combat this. Local rules don't stop a national crisis. Mandates enforced by martial law may be necessary because too many refuse to take this seriously and thus endanger the lives of many.

Here in AZ tests are available at any LabCorp or Quest clinic, so I’m sure the hospitals have them as well. Now get ready for the bad news from the widespread testing.

Trump seems to have focused exclusively on trying everything to keep the stock market from tanking....largely because he sees that it has been the only thing that GOP point to when they say they still support him.

No stock market gains - no more GOP support.

Trump also knows that if he loses this coming election he is more than likely going to have to face the music of crimes that are not beyond the statute of limitations.

Hence...

again I am concerned that Trump might delay federal elections.

The number I keep coming back to is the number of deaths in Hubei, which is about 3000. It is still increasing but slowly at this point. The population of Hubei is 60 million people. If we scale that to the USA, it is equivalent to us having 15,000 deaths, total. That is far less than the number of flu deaths we get in a year, which is around 30,000 - 40,000.

The economic damage we are going to incur from forcing people to not work for months is going to hurt us significantly. The cure could be worse for us than the disease. The people making the decisions better have this right.
Hubei is not a good comparison at all. Ask yourself the following two questions:

What measures were taken to stop the spread in Hubei?
Are we taking (or even capable of taking) those measures here?

The answer to the second question is, of course, a resounding no. The bars in Boston were packed this weekend. There were masses of students on spring break in Ft. Lauderdale last week. On Saturday, the Governor of Oklahoma was tweeting that he and his family were out to dinner. The mayor of New York was at the gym this morning. The people in Hubei were subject to tight screenings, strict limitations on movement, and - for all intents and purposes - martial law.

That is because Trump isn't a leader at all.

Look at what was done differently in Hubei. They locked down the entire city of Wuhan to contain it as much as possible. We didn't do that now it is already in all 50 states.

Today: close to 70 US deaths, 3,000 confirmed cases. Over 3,000,000 kids across the country are seeing their schools closed. Major metropolitan areas all over the country and federal government offices are closing or 100% telework. Most professional sports leagues and college sports are shutdown across the nation. Church services are being canceled and most states are banning gatherings of over 50 people.

Panic is beginning to set in as store shelves are empty of essentials. The stock market is in free fall, seeing record losses never seen before. Travel restrictions are in place to most of Europe and Asia.

So what was that that Donald Trump said? "It's like a miracle, it will disappear." Hey Trump supporters, how STUPID does Donald Trump look now?
Trump's irresponsible rhetoric about this pandemic actually made conditions worse here in the US.

I believe this is one of the times, martial law should be declared.
