Pat Buchanan is a needed voice of sanity. He was one of the first to warn about the dangers of globalism and an out of control government that is hostile to its own citizens.

Quote:

What does the future hold? It may one day be said that the coronavirus delivered the deathblow to the New World Order, to a half-century of globalization, and to the era of interdependence of the world’s great nations.

It should be obvious to everyone here by now, I hope, that globalism and internationalism are not the same thing.

We have had international alliances, trade, migration, etc. between nations for thousands of years and we will continue to have all of that. That is internationalism.

What we do not need is the massive multi-lateral organizations and treaties, which are designed to appropriate sovereignty over matters previously controlled by the nation-states, and which are run by faceless bureaucracies and seemingly directed by powerful and wealthy elites who are beholden to nobody but themselves. That is globalism.

President Trump has been hacking globalism to bits in a manner reminiscent of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacres". Since globalism was already on the decline, it cannot accurately said that anything that happened this year or last was the sole cause of globalism's demise. But it may help a bit, which is a bit of a silver lining to this crisis.

You seem a bit hungry today, lad. Don't be an eejit. Perhaps you and Pat should go out for a pint of the "black stuff."

It will absolutely accelerate the breakup of the European Union. Countries need to dust off their currency printing plates.

They are going back to sovereignty.

You heard it here first!

Pat Buchanan is a highly ideological idiot. He's been ranting to the choir for 50 years, but fortunately he never seized power. People who are determined to interpret every situation to justify their innate warped beliefs will do so. But there is nothing there to see for those with at least one hand holding on to reality.

Imagine Trump could actually be the smartest guy in the room after all considering how he has been trying to MAGA by making trade deals more even or in our favor while trying to bring manufacturing back to America and distance us from and questioning the world order like NATO and the Paris climate accord. Trump is even trying to make us energy independent so we won't need to bow to the ME for our oil while Bernie and Biden both want to shut down coal, oil and fracking.

Of course we need to think globally but we need to act locally and this latest crisis will make a lot of people wake up to the fact that we are far too dependent on the rest of the world for our daily needs. I heard on the radio that most antibiotics and even aspirin is not made in America anymore?

We need to wake up and this corona is the alarm clock.

It’s more likely to kill Pat than the “New World Order”.

1. Pat actually exists.
2. Pat’s older than dirt.

Agreed.

This is going to somewhat reverse the rush to globalism.

I would venture to say he is a lot more intelligent than you are, or most people for that matter.

I use to watch the McLaughlin Group every Sunday when he and 3 other panelists along with the host (John McLaughlin) discussed the issues of the week.
Whenever there was a debate involving historical facts, Buchanan had more knowledge than all the others combined, including the host.

You may not like his politics and are the opposite from an ideological point of view, but no one, including the liberals on that program would ever refer to him as an idiot.

But I suppose that is the tactic opponents will try to use by name calling to obfuscate their inability to refute the facts/subject.

The irony of course is having someone intellectually inferior calling the person with whom they disagree with an idiot.
