The people trying to prop up Trump on this dont comprehend the math behind exponential growth, and just what will happen if we cant flatten the growth to a point where our hospitals can handle it. Remember, a significant number of folks needs hospitalization to survive this. This isnt partisan over reaction, this is people who understand math.
Both discuss the R0, and place it at roughly 1.5 for one of the worst flu seasons. and I have no idea where you pulled the R0 of 2 for coronovirus. Probably the same place you got the R0 for the flu I imagine.
"The flu is extremely efficient in passing among people before an infected person shows symptoms. But the coronavirus doesn't operate in quite the same way.
"COVID-19 does not transmit as efficiently as influenza, from the data we have so far," Ghebreyesus said."
I can find the other reference if you insist but at that point youre splitting hairs.
The difference causing concern is not an increase in R0, its the mortality rate because of lack of immunity to the novel virus.
When relatively few are affected, or especially die from this Flu, and the utter ridiculousness of the Media and Democrats (same thing) is seen, then maybe people will realize the huge conflict of interest, and hypocrisy that exists.
Every scientist involved in epidemiology has warned of the danger this virus represents. Deny the science if you will. It is up to you.
When your elderly relatives die while gasping for air, and when you have to put off surgery for appendicitis because there is no available hospital bed, you can still claim all the warnings were a hoax.
Is the situation in Italy a hoax? In China? Japan?
This is happening now. It might not have affected you yet, but it is happening now.

Prop up Trump? No the problem is people seeking to blame it all upon him, as if a denocrat in the white house could wave a magic wand and triple the number of hospital beds, or would have done something different that would have stopped its spread. As for the economy we are headed into a depression not unlike the one that began in 1929. It would have been stupid for Trump to prematurely overreact and make it worse.

And if Trump had done anything more draconian, the TDS-afflicted would have screamed and whined about that too.

Yeah, ok. Whatever you say, Rahm Emanuel.
This crisis must not go to waste.
