Good Lord. So now you will blame people who lose their jobs and say it's some how their fault they lost their jobs because of the media? And those who don't lose their jobs are somehow better than everyone else because they were smart enough not to lose their jobs?

Even you can't believe such nonsense. At least, I certainly hope you don't. But then again, I have learned never to overestimate a Trump supporter.

Good Lord.

Nonsense, everything you just said can easily be accomplished with unemployment insurance, eliminate the waiting week and make it available to those people who's hours have been cut.

Think in the future going along with Yang a VAT/UBI is key for the US

Creating an optional social safety net if we could eventually raise UBI to $2K or higher is key

For now to stop the spread of the virus think...

If we pay out $1,000 to $1,500 a month for three months to anyone who pays income tax in the US

Encourage non essential employers to only be open three times a week or limit hours open to stop the spread of the virus

Every previous discussion about UBI has also called for the elimination of all welfare, is that on the table too?
Eliminate all welfare and make a law banning any new program and maybe we can make a deal, but we all no that the libs will never give up there votes for cash cow.

They are right. Many workers have seen their incomes dry up, hours cut back, furloughed or even laid off. A temporary universal basic income check of $1,000 per month will be a real lifeline. To keep the administrative costs down, just mail the checks to every person who filed a federal tax return. No applications, no forms, no paperwork. Just mail the checks. Not only would that help those who need it, it would also be the most effective stimulus possible, as most would spend it immediately and pump it into the economy. Three months of checks would cost about $0.5T. Doable.
is it possible or worthwhile in your view to try and define "many"?

thee's about 150MM individual returns filed annually.

Which frankly, doesn't make sense. with 330MM people, that just seems high ... but alas, it's your exercise.

150MM x $1,000 x 3 = $450B. so, at least you got your math right.

now, aren't you a loud - very loud - decrier of "Trump's deficits" and our "1T hole from a 1% tax giveaway"?

Why would you so quickly increase that by 50%?

Why would you provide a TARP-sized benefit ($470B), when it never gets repaid?

I believe the idea here is temporary, to get people through the upcoming job losses. And it makes a hell of a lot more sense than a payroll tax cut, for which you have to have a job to get the benefit. People with jobs don't need it, as they will still have a paycheck coming in. This is to help those who don't.

Honestly, the stupidity of Trump knows no bounds. His answer to a crisis is to throw a useless tax cut at it. He is utterly useless in a crisis. That much is clear.

Why bring up UBI if it isn't universal? lol. It is almost like using this crisis to scam the idea away from what it is.

I'm always very hesitant to jump into these kinds of programs.

Hey -- off topic --- but saw a great suggestion -- if there is a small business in your community that you think could use a boost right now -- buying gift cards for use later would help their cash flow .
