Has the pandemic in any way made you reconsider your position on health care and paid sick days?

No. We should have had them before. We should have them now. But Republicans feel we can't afford them because we need to spend $850 billion bailing out airlines and giving tax cuts to the rich instead

Change public policy for a once in a generation event? Nope. Id rather pay a big price once than pay the price in perpetuity.

In terms of government mandates?

No.

Government sucked before. Government sucks now. Government will suck later.

See how easy it is?

No but you could be against universal health care and yet not think "No, if people cant pay for it, they should go without" .

There is absolutely nothing that a government can do to protect its people from a truly bad worldwide pandemic. We will be screwed no matter what. Life is like that.

You think that your government’s healthcare system can save you if a large asteroid strikes the earth? LOL

hard to vote since they're 2 different issues, and present what you want to be vs what you falsely claim exists.

We have Medicare and Medicaid, and no-turn-away emergency care.

without any accurate and complete data on "who doesn't get PTO with their jobs", it's impossible to address that question.

If the only question was "should sick people go to work/school/large public gatherings anyway?" then of course the answer is no.

and it makes one wonder whether it's a gotcha, or a political position, or actual concern. Doesn't seem like the last.

The US is currently doing better than many nations with universal healthcare, Norway for example has considerably more COVID-19 cases per capita than the US. Turns out universal healthcare doesn't really help in these kinds of situations.

Also, it's terribly ignorant to suggest that people "go without" in the US. Everyone receives care when they truly need it, irrespective of their ability to pay for it.
