I have a buddy that works in a warehouse for a large beverage company.
He refuses to drink anything from a can and wipes the top before pouring it in to a glass.
I always make it a point to wipe off groceries before I put them into the fridge or pantry, but I don't actually sterilize them. I am researching the recommendations but I have not heard much talk about the surface life of this virus on grocery items/packaging or uncooked food and how to approach it when we they provide us with updates and advice.
Not sure if this covers exactly what I'm concerned about.
I guarantee you 80% of people do not wipe things off as they put them away. (probably much higher)
I know of no one, except maybe my mother, who would do that.
If the virus spreads that way, most people are destined to get it then. It is what it is, and here we are, sadly.
Corporate Amazon barred the people who fill your Whole Food cart for delivery from wearing gloves and masks. Not that any have masks, but they were wearing gloves. This is not the regular people who work at Whole Foods, they can wear gloves. This is the people who pick out salmon and lettuce for you and place it in a bag for the driver. Crazy, Yes, wash everything off.
If it's something from a supermarket or store, I'll disinfect it. I won't really wipe of clean it... unless it's something that warrants cleaning (like produce).

Im just conscientous about what Ive touched and makes sure I wash before touching food. Probably gonna hit the plastics with lysol wipe. Nothing wrong with taking precautions. Ive been a germaphobe for a long time. Im sure your aware that your shoes carry a lot of yuck on them.
If you buy things with enough lead time you can just set them aside in the garage or a separate area for 3 days and that will likely be enough or do as good a job as wiping them down.
I thought about it. I stress about it. I just don't have the energy. I have two difficult kids at home. I now have to clean the whole house. If I have to wipe down the groceries, I would rather be dead.

I brought my hamburger and fries home and dunked them in chlorine bleach....
