H1N1 started here. Why isn't it called the North American flu? The WHO changed the naming protocol precisely because it puts a stigma on countries, regions and ethnicities.

Meanwhile, Trump's need to deflect the blame is putting targets on the backs of Asian-Americans.

Trump is fanning the flames. Does he care about these Americans? Nope. All that matters is that he can use them as scapegoats.

You're lying again.

There were in fact Chinese workers at Fort Riley when the flu broke out:

An article from that time indicates that the epidemic began on 5th March 1918 among the Chinese workers contracted at the Fort Riley military base in Funston, Kansas.
President Wilson ignored his medical experts' advice to quarantine the base. Instead, the Fort Riley recruits were distributed to military camps throughout the US, allowing the virus to incubate and reshuffle throughout the summer of 1918, and then overseas infecting most of Europe, killing millions.

Keep that in mind when you assess Trump's performance in this emergency.

Why was it known as "The Spanish Flu"?

Quote:
Spain got the blame because it was a neutral country in WWI and had no wartime press censorship. The countries involved in the war censored news about flu cases in their own countries. When Spain reported its cases, that news was reprinted and everyone got the idea that that’s where the epidemic started.

Take your racism, and shove it.

Don't you mean Trump's racism? He's the one who is putting Asian-Americans at risk to deflect blame from himself.

That article of yours saying it was Chinese workers didn't cite their sources which should have been the article itself from 1918.

Scientists trying to find the source 100 years later still haven't.

Try this RESEARCH paper with cited sources.

ROFL..it's not Trump.

You'd have to be living under a rock to not know this came from China.

I'm not interested in the problems of immigrants who chose to live as a minority elsewhere. And "Trump's racism" exists only in the imaginations of people like you.

And the swine flu came from here. The point is, by Trump labeling this the Chinese flu he is putting people here at risk of reprisals. Is his bigotry so strong that he would throw Asian-Americans under the bus just so he could deflect blame away from his own dismal handling of the crisis?

The answer seems to be yes.

The article is from a "progressive" website. The fact that there were Chinese workers at Fort Riley is not open to dispute, and the paper you cite does not dispute it.
