The only US drugmaker that makes a potential treatment for the coronavirus that was touted by President Donald Trump raised the price by almost 100 per cent in January, as the virus caused havoc across China.
Rising Pharmaceuticals, a New Jersey based company, increased the price of chloroquine — an antimalarial, which is one of the drugs that is being tested against Covid-19 — on January 23, according to data from research firm Elsevier. The drug price rose 97.86 per cent to $7.66 per 250mg pill and $19.88 per 500mg pill.*
It's more so because we've been dealing with demolibs never-ending, pathetic, relentless "crying wolf" for the past 3 and a half solid years 24/7 about how President Trump is going down for this and that, and every time turning out to be nothing but a great big scam in the end. This situation is in no way different. A fine example is how the demolibs keep saying President Trump is calling the coronavirus a hoax. He's not called it a hoax, what he is calling a hoax is the bs that the demolibs are saying in regards to how he's dealing with/assessing the virus. Plain and simple, well, not so much for the demolibs anyways.
There is just a hand full of billionaires worldwide that are anti-Trump / Republican, that with have the means and the money to brainwash demolibs in mass numbers to fight their war for them. This is absolutely no different.
Your first mistake is posting something from Gateway Pundit, probably the most notorious FAKE NEWS site in the country.
"President Trump announced on Thursday the US will IMMEDIATELY make the drug Chloroquine available to treat US coronavirus patients"
As others have pointed out, the drug is already available for treating malaria. Doctors have the ability to prescribe drugs off-label, so nothing is currently stopping them from giving it to a coronavirus victim. So how exactly is Trump going to "make it available for coronavirus"? It will NOT be approved by FDA for that indication for many months, if at all.
The study that was linked was very small - 20 patients with chloroquine vs 16 patients without - but the results were very promising and should be replicated on a larger scale before starting to prescribe this on a routine basis. Let's be cautiously optimistic.
From the BostonHerald:
"Boston Medical Center is already using the drug on people infected with coronavirus.
Lee Wetzler, an infectious diseases specialist at Boston Medical Center, said the hospital is giving chloroquine to all confirmed and suspected coronavirus patients — with the hope that the drug will help increase survival rates.
'It seems to stem some of the inflammation, and also seems to decrease viral shedding,' Wetzler said. 'Viral shedding is part of the virus’ process of reproduction.'"
I'm astounded at how many Lefties are desperate to over blow the severity of the virus, or to down play any possible cure or treatment - no matter how promising - that might help with getting the country through this until a vaccine can make it to market. Why? because they're afraid anything that helps minimize the virus will prove to be helpful to Trump after everything else they've tried to use against him has failed.
Overblown? We're just listening to the healthcare experts. None of us on CD have the credentials to talk about how severe it is. Fauci himself said there is no magic cure. Wish there were and wish we weren't in this situation. But overblown? I don't think so.
China has been studying this drug on Coronavirus. German drugmaker Bayer has donated 3 million units to the USA. Kudos for global coordination between countries.

Bayer AG said on Thursday it has donated 3 million tablets of the malaria drug Resochin to the U.S. government for potential use to treat COVID-19. Resochin, made of chloroquine phosphate and an approved treatment for malaria, is being evaluated in China for its potential use against COVID-19, the disease caused by the fast-spreading coronavirus.
Bayer said the drug is currently not approved for use in the United States and the company is working with appropriate agencies on an emergency use authorization for its use in the United States.
