It doesn't take being a politician nor a smooth talker to not lie and flip flop, and zzzSnorlax documented some of Trump's lies and flip flopping re this issue in the Trump timeline he posted in post #26.

I'll vote for him is if he's the nominee but he's my last choice." And who do my fellow Dems go for? The worst candidate of all! And they aren't even excited about him. All they talk about is how they voted for him based on his theoretical choice for VP because his memory loss is so bad!

I don't know where people's minds are...I don't know where they get the idea that he can order 320 million tests on demand...nor do I understand how they think that he should have locked down the country when the first person tested positive in California with "flu like symptoms" a month ago...to suggest otherwise, is just ridiculous.
Anyway, according to a recent ABC poll, 55% of Americans approve of how Trump is handling this, compared to 43% who disapprove:

Trump did not handle this properly. He dismantled the Pandemic Response Team for starters. That cost lives. Then he covered it up and lied about its severity in an attempt to save the market and improve his reelection chances. That also cost lives. He did not cause COVID-19. But he sure could have admitted it was a problem and immediately taken drastic action. So no, Trump's lies once again hurt Americans. Because all he cares about is himself. He does not even care if we die as long as he gets reelected.
