Just when I thought that the Repubs suck for disallowing stimulus checks for those that made over $75K in earned income, here comes a Dem (Stabenow) who can't understand why a ZERO Fed Tax person receives only $600 when a taxpaying citizen receives $1,200? Pelosi is insisting that the socialist giveaways MUST be means-tested.

Well the problem is that it’s based only on one year, 2018. If you paid every other year, you get nothing. If you only paid in 2018 and nothing in other years, you get 1200 for some reason.

If someone is paying zero fed tax, it’s probably because they are stuck in a low paying job and can barely make rent each month. Hardly an enviable position.

The are consequences from replacing millions of good paying manufacturing jobs with low-wage service jobs.

Wouldn't you get $600? Or am I missing something?

Stimulus checks are not disallowed for those who made over 75K in earned income.

They is a sliding scale of gradual reduction in the amount paid out for those individuals who earned just under 100K and for those families who earned just under 200K I believe.

Not if you didn’t file in 2018.

This is only the first proposal, though.

No, if they are paying zero it’s most likely because they’re living on welfare, which they are still receiving right now.

Even low-wage service workers will earn more than the standard deduction over the span of a year. It takes working just over 30 hours per week at minimum wage (which few adults actually earn) to have to pay fed income tax.

Nope. 45% of all US 1040 filers pay no federal income tax whatsoever. Only 2% of the labor force earns the federal minimum wage or less (BLS).

They should get nothing since they put nothing in.
