It's sometimes hard to keep up with what's non-PC in the fast-changing world of woke etiquette.
I've only just got used to LGBT and now I find out that's as old-fashioned as flared trousers - apparently that gene has now mutated into LGBTQIA.

Anyway I now see Barry Obama is tweeting about queers and I wonder if that's cool these days or, like the n-word, does it depend on who is using it ?

In answer to my own question CD had blooped out the word in the post title.
But if I put it in as plural it's ok.

See what I mean about it being hard to keep up !

you know you dont have to use the term at all right ?

Although, to be clear , its odd that the site does it that way, because the opposite is true.

The adjective is the one that is ok, not the noun. No different than black vs blacks.

That's kind of my point.
Is it okay to call a homosexual ***** ? It's what Obama is doing yet this site still considers it an abusive word.

It’s an antiquated term. I believe the accepted vernacular is ‘progressives’.

If Donald Trump was to use the term queers what do you think the reaction would be ?

Everyone except for Fox would have a sissy fit.

Well, a previous poster said that it is not acceptable when used as a noun, so I think he would get criticized for it.

On the other hand, apparently it is OK as an adjective, but I imagine the context matters as well. For instance, if Trump were to say,

"***** Americans are Americans too and deserve the same rights and respect as anyone else", I think he would be OK.

That is what the "Q" is in LGBTQ. Not sure how the "Q"s are different than the L's and G's though.
