So now it will be $3,400(per month?) for a family of 4 earning $99k or less for the next 4 months, but you probably won’t see the first check till May? Not sure about How much singles will get? Also the unemployed get a huge boost. They will get checks equivalent to their fullwages as unemployment checks according to Trump and not the measly monthly unemployment check

It's a one time payout.

no because it's selective welfare. It shoul be for everyone or noone. Middle class is screwed again. Also making x amount of money goes farther in some places than others. So why should some dude in a low cost state get a check cause he only makes 50g but someone in a high cost state makes 80 but get next to nothing. This wil all have to be paid back by the actual tax payers.

Why? Because when the tax increases come in the future, that is who will be paying for them. Takers should not be allowed to vote in this poll.

takers shouldnt be allowed to vote period.

I was laid off last week. It looks like the beefed up unemployment insurance will keep me whole until my place of business reopens. Beyond that though my health insurance is going to be cancelled at the end of April if I'm not back at work by then. I'll be using the $1200 to make COBRA payments. Got to have health insurance during a pandemic.

I wouldn't go that far because some retireees who were makers their whole lives, and now have SS as their sole source of income, may no longer pay net Federal income taxes, but they should still be able to vote due to their lifelong contribution.

I'm too young to know, but that could be a possible scenario I'm guessing. Does anyone know?

If senile Biden were president and he offered $200 per person, the Liberal media would say WONDERFUL! Note the Trump haters saying $1,200 is not good enough....

I know, a lot of people are going to be laid off. So give them extended unemployment benefits.
I know, a lot of businesses are going to go under. So give them some sort of loan, bankruptcy protection or other assistance.
Besides, for the above people, $1200 is a drop in the ocean.
I know that putting money in the pockets of consumers is one way to stimulate the economy during a recession. But no one can spend this extra money while the pandemic is raging, so what good is it?

Those of us working from home, saving on gas money and watching Netflix, we don't need your $1200! Why can't we target this stimulus in some logical manner???
I completely agree with you.

Talk about a drop in the ocean; out of a total world population of 7.8 billion, as of today there are 479,868 cases of the virus, 21,577 deaths and 115,796 recoveries. Its amazing that less than 1% of the population has caused pure chaos and economical ruin for the everyone. If this $1200 check is to be a stimulus, the demographic they intend on giving it to will need it to pay their bills or put it in savings, not stimulate the economy by spending it. This money, though a good intention, would be better suited to go into making more medical devices, etc. that hospitals are requesting in order to help the patients infected with corona. The death rate on this thing is higher than it should be due to lack of medical devices, not the virus itself.
