Don't you know? There is a worldwide conspiracy of virus experts aiming to bring down Trump.

If the "deep state" or whomever wants Trump out of office, wouldn't it be easier for them to do that instead of just threatening that he will end up like JFK if he doesn't play along? Wow! the lengths you people go to defend him.

That said, I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to quarantine everyone who is over 65 and/or has a serious underlying condition (and those two factors would overlap, since older people tend to have medical conditions) and let the working-age population continue to go to work and spend money. The vulnerable group would be protected, and the economy wouldn't be in a downspin.
1. Young people may not die from the virus in large numbers, but they can still be hospitalized from it. Letting it spread unchecked would quickly overwhelm the medical system.

2. It's unrealistic to quarantine everyone with an underlying condition. Many of these people need regular attention from medical professionals. Hospitals don't even have enough protective gear right now, it's not like nursing home employees can do their job while exposed to the virus.

LOL, if you don't support shutting down the entire economy for the virus that kills around 1% of those infected, it means you are Hitler! That's where this argument is headed! Can you imagine what previous generations would think of how wussified our modern civilization has become? They want to shut our entire lives down over a fricken germ! Previous generations dealt with actual problems like Nazis, but you all want to surrender to a germ. Unbelievable.

Some sick people might have to recover in a heated tent, oh the humanity! You people are too much!

Yeah, the epidemiologists, the virologists, microbiologists, biochemists, chemists, internists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, etc - they're all in on the conspiracy!!!

Very good question.

People should be smart enough to realize that the premise of those estimates is that we actually take preventative measures.

To try to say we go about our lives normally, then that would change the estimate imo.

No prevention and probably 2/3 of the country gets it and 3% die....so that's 6mil as a ballpark number.

And so what of all the other countries- all about your god mrT? The news is global! The bug is global - doesn’t care anything about politics. Media is always media - the story is the story and it’s not fake or out of proportion to satisfy folks thoughts that it’s all about mrT.

Trumplicans are unworried about the death toll, so long as THEY are not among the victims.

Killing presidents tends to wake up too many sheep from their slumber. If there was such a thing as "the deep state" they would be far better off usurping the president's power to their advantage. Since Trump attached his success to the rising stock market, it would be much easier to just crash the stock market and bring on great depression 2.0. We've had the fakest recovery in American history, now we've seen the fakest crash and will probably see the fakest depression in US history. Strange times we are living in.

That's exactly what you want to do. Give up our economy, our way of life, our wealth, so we can all sit at home and cry about a disease that kills maybe 1%. You like to call people who disagree with you stupid. You're going to feel pretty stupid when the end result of this is a great depression and 20% unemployment... Unless you're one of those who has been rooting for the economy to collapse ever since Trump was elected. It's no surprise that almost all the TDS sufferers here are all for shutting down the economy over this not so super bug.
