Political Correctness has evolved to the point with some you must deny science to be PC. PC has cost human lives before, PC is killing humans right now, and PC will kill humans in the future.
Italy's top virologist has stated that the country's concern to not appear racist is chiefly responsible for why Italy has it worse than its neighbors. Italian leaders calling Trump's mild travel restrictions from Wuhan as racist/xenophobic and then refusing until the last possible moment to put in place their own travel restrictions.
Italian elected leaders denying the science of how viruses spread by further asking Italians to hug Chinese tourists including at airports to prove that Italy isn't racist. Woke-PC is literally killing people in Italy as they deal with this nightmare.
The WHO...yes the World Health Organization a month ago OPPOSED the science behind travel restrictions, claimed travel restrictions would do more harm than good and said growing racism against Chinese was a bigger concern for them. Unreal.
In the educational setting there are woke-PC students that deny that men are on average stronger than women (with plenty of exceptions) due to biology as men have significantly higher average testosterone levels and testosterone impacts things like muscle growth among many other things. As a teacher I have had to deal with multiple science deniers of Testosterone. All woke-PC students that claim that muscle and Olympic result difference between the gender is based on societal discrimination from society of people telling boys to be strong and girls to be weak.
Woke-PC students deny the now overwhelming amount of scientific evidence that IQ is impacted by one's genetics.
Woke-PC culture means that the media pushes untruthful, but less "offensive" narratives like in Fergusson that leads to duped people rioting and attacking cops. Cops died, because of the woke-PC FICTIONAL narrative pushed by the media.
London and Paris have seen looting, but we can't be honest about who so it is described as "youths," because being woke-PC means that we can't be honest about the identity of the vast majority of the looters there.

The real danger comes from the actual science deniers, and those are conservatives and Trumpsters who still don't believe in global warming and who believed Trump when, up until less than a week ago, he was telling everyone this was all going to amount to nothing. Talk about denying science.
Rampant ignorance is the biggest danger we face as a species.
"Woke" is the cultural movement of either team to promote/protect its narrative.
OP gave some highlights (or lowlights) of Team Blue. You can find just as many "woke" examples from Team Red promoting its cultural narrative in this pandemic.
This of course is because neither side promotes principle but instead power. That's how authoritarians win (or brainwash) hearts and minds.

(1) I didn't say all problems on earth were from Woke-PC, just because you can find a problem outside of woke-PC doesn't mean woke-PC isn't a problem. Surely, even you can see the problems in your logic.
Congratulations, Trump isn't perfect. I have criticized Trump sharply for his handling of this all. That doesn't detract from a single word that I posted.
(2) Liberals deny science as much as conservatives in this country. Biden got a huge applause on January 31st when he called Trump's travel restrictions from Wuhan racist and xenophobic and then claimed that it would cause the coronavirus to be much worse if the world restricted travel from China.
I can go down a whole host of issues where many liberals frequently deny science when it suits them, but that is off topic for this thread.

That's where the sensible and silent majority of more reasonable people need to hold extremists accountable in public office and positions of power so that they shape up or ship out, and can be replaced with people who really put the country's (and ultimately the world's) best interests at heart. Those aren't often the people at the bully pulpit but that needs to change.

There are Republicans who buy into woke-PC culture too. Sure, more people on team-blue I'd bet, but don't fool yourself that this is strictly a red vs blue issue. Some of the Italian politicians were of the conservative party that were denying science in favor of woke-PC.
And on a side tangent - both left and right should be embarrassed about their politicians' responses to this.
