Paul had his lungs damaged when he was attacked by his crazy neighbor, such that he had to have part of a lung removed and suffered pneumonia. Seems he could be at larger risk for lung complications from Coronavirus .

He expects to be back in the Senate after his quarantine period ends and will continue to work for the people of Kentucky at this difficult time. Ten days ago, our D.C. office began operating remotely, hence virtually no staff has had contact with Senator Rand Paul.

Senator Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19. He is feeling fine and is in quarantine. He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events. He was not aware of any direct contact with any infected person.
I imagine he has been in many face to facers over the handouts to business bill the GOP has been crafting. Many of those people are older and will get very sick or worse. Others are tough-talking cowards who will flee town. Better hurry up and pass the thing or there might not be a quorum later this week.
Except that this particular virus has been unleashed a harder hit on people who are more prominently known, well traveled, and live in more cosmopolitan and affluent areas, so that doesn't really apply to this particular illness threat like it does to many.

The thing about this virus is the transmission rate, it will invade every corner of life, no matter how insulated, because we all use the grocery store, we all go to the post office, we all pump gas and go to the barbershop, so ones wealth and privilege is of little defense to this virus.

As an anecdote. The Pope survived the Middle Ages plague.
"Pope Clement chose to stay in Avignon during the Black Death and survived the worst of the plague, though a third of his cardinals died. His survival may have been due, in large part, to his doctors' advice to sit between two huge fires, even in the heat of summer. ..."
This method may be a good idea presently. Be sure to go to the closed town hall and obtain a fire permit though.
