That isn't quite how it works. Those infected usually succumb after a few weeks on a ventilator, so deaths are really slow at first but pile up quickly later. I put the likelihood that AZ has anywhere near 800 infected at near zero.
I understand that. That is why I said the 500 number is low. I picked 1% which is probably also a low number. If its really 2% when those on ventilators die then 16 deaths for 800 cases is right.
New York is doing massive testing. 39,000 cases 461 deaths. 1.2%.
In rural Arizona lots of areas have no hospitals. I lived in one area where it was common to pay for medical helicopter service which would take you to Phoenix or Tucson. You pay so much a year and it covers a couple of pickups. Otherwise it was a 90 minute drive.
Many closures of hospitals across the nation even cities like NY but more so in rural areas. One of the benefits of living in rural areas is isolation but if you get ill it’s a large problem.

He should be prevented from further speaking to the public on the issue. Period! I would say all his supporters should absolutely take his advice but then they place others in jeopardy who know better.
I agree. Let Pence (who I also do not like, but he is running the taskforce) and the coronavirus team do the talking. But Trump wants to control the narrative and wants to use the daily briefings as a quasi campaign rally. So he is not going anywhere.
Anyone take notice what's going on in Iran right now in regards to the coronavirus and people dying over there? More people have died in Iran from poisoning themselves with "home remedies" than are dying from actually catching coronavirus.
I agree too many are out and about. And few use any sort of protection. I use disposable gloves and a mask. And I keep my distance to others when I need to get groceries. Maybe its overkill but why take a chance. Lots of people act like its business as usual. And supermarket clerks. Most are totally unprotected. I don't get that.
And where do you propose we find said masks and gloves? I often hear that and honestly there is little to no response when I ask. PPE is hard enough to find for medical professionals, let alone Joe Sixpack.

I read the rural living forum here. I have another house in a small town in Oklahoma and go there for the summer. I relate to the rural living people. My town has 8,000 people and actually has a good hospital. It has a senior citizen shuttle that takes you do doctors appointments for free I think. I am not at the age yet for needing that. But surrounding smaller towns do not have that. And budgets get cut for these sorts of things, they never expand so its a big problem for them. Even where i am lots of specialists are in Stillwater, 35 minutes away. If you are a senior and no car that is very difficult.
You have to weight the low cost of living, safer community and other positive attributes with difficult emergency healthcare. Even more so with the pandemic.
